Sam FERRELL died last week at his home near Stokes, aged 46 years. He is survived by several children. Interment at Elizabeth after funeral services conducted by rev. L. A. BEDWELL.
The postoffice, Bank of Friendship and Smith & James' general store have installed electric lights from the Coffman plant.
We desire to thank our neighbors and friends who stood by us so faithfully during the illness of our little son, Alvin, before he was carried from our home to the hospital at Jackson. We also wish to thank the many friends in the surrounding country who gave so liberally of their means to help bear the expenses at the hospital. Mr. John WRAY, of the firm of Wray Bros., hardware merchants, went to Jackson Tuesday and purchased a five passenger Ford. This makes eight cars for this place, four Fords, two Flanders, one Stoddard-Dayton, and one Maxwell.
The cotton gin and seed house of the Lake County Manufacturing Company at Dyersburg was destroyed by fire Tuesday morning. Origin of fire unknown. Insurance $7,500. The plant was practically new.
One of the largest real estate deals consummated in this city for some time was closed up the last of the week, though it has on for some time, when J. G. SUDBURY purchased at commissioner's sale the 937 acres owned by J. H. EDWARDS laying a few miles east of this city, the price being $62,000. - Blytheville (Ark.) Courier. Mr. SUDBURY is a son of J. A. SUDBURY of near town. He is a prominent banker of Blytheville and is meeting with great success in his Arkansas home.

Mrs. E. A. ROBERTSON went out to the home of Esq. J. A. ROBERTSON Tuesday and Mesdames ROBERTSON and Mr. Dave ROBERTSON enjoyed a fishing trip, catching about 40 juvenile members of the finny tribe.
Mrs. J. S. DOWNEY returned Saturday from a visit to Florida. She was accompanied by Dr. DOWNEY's sister, Miss Lillie DOWNEY, who will make her home here.
Willie CRAIG has resigned his position as Assistant Cashier of the Bank of Friendship on account of his health. He is succeeded by Wayne BOLING, the popular young groceryman at the depot.
T. R. PRESTON, Chattanooga Banker, has announced himself a candidate for the Democratic nomination for Governor.
There will be prayer meeting at the residence of Dr. J. S. DOWNEY, next Wednesday night. Everybody invited.
Morris NOTGRASS went to Jackson Tuesday and returned with Mr. John WRAY in his new car.
David B. DODSON, Circuit Court Clerk, died at his home in Alamo Saturday at the age of 73. Mr. DODSON had been in ill health for sometime and just a few weeks ago his condition became so bad that he decided to give up the Democratic nomination for Circuit Court Clerk and get out of the race. He served three terms as County Court Clerk previous to his election to the office that he held at the time of his death. He was the same big hearted, genial gentleman as private citizen and public servant. He was a valiant soldier in the struggle between the states and was loyal to the South. A wife, two sons, one daughter, and a county-wide circle of true friends survive. The remains were laid to rest at Mt. Zion, near this place, Sunday afternoon. Rev. McCASLIN of Alamo and Rev. John NUNN of Bells conducted the funeral services and Attorney General Tom RYE of Paris paid a brief tribute to the memory of the deceased. Mr. DODSON was a Mason and was buried with Masonic honors. Worshipful Master J. P. HARWELL, of Friendship lodge, conducted the service.
