Excerpts from the Tri-County News - Volume 2, No. 3 (Thursday, June 5, 1913)

Elmer YOUNG, aged 16 years, passed away Monday at his home in the Elizabeth community. He was a son of the late Weldon YOUNG and is survived by his mother and several brothers and sisters. The remains were interred at Elizabeth today.

John STALLINGS' car broke down Saturday evening on Dyersburg road about four miles from Dyersburg. He went down Monday morning and had the machine repaired and brought home.

Dr. John L. POWELL has been elected city health officer by the town council to see that the necessary precautions are taken to guard against diseases.

Dr. John FROST of Bonicord has located in our little city to practice his profession and has an office on Depot Street next to the livery barn. Dr. FROST is an old schoolmate of the editor and we are glad to have him locate in our little city.

Harry Eugene, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. HAWKINS, died Monday and was buried at Zion Hill.

John STALLINGS and wife, Mr. Floyd CHANDLER and Misses Gladys SUDBURY and Olive PEAL went to Jackson Thursday night in Mr. STALLINGS' car.

Miss Ruth PARKER of Friendship was a most delightful guest in the home of ye editor last Saturday and Sunday.

Aveling GROUNDS, who has been attending Jefferson Military College at Washington, Miss. is spending his vacation with homefolks.

Bob FLEMING of Alamo was in town Monday.

Miss Ella FERGUSON of Tiptonville visited friends here a part of last week.

Messrs. Earl MILLER, Tom MILLER, and Bob PATRICK of Bonicord came up Sunday night to hear Wild Bill preach.

Mrs. J. A. PHILLIPS and children of Hot Springs, Ark. are visiting her father, Dr. Thomas GROUNDS.

Mrs. Susie ROBERTSON and daughter, Misses Pauline and Lorine of Tiptonville, visited Mrs. ROBERTSON's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. SUDBURY, last week, returning home Monday of this week.

Mr. and Mrs. W. H. SUDBURY visited in Henderson this week.

Prof. Hugh BODKINS of Kenton was a visitor here Monday.

R. W. RIGGINS made a business trip to Tigrett Monday.

Miss Olive PEAL of Bonicord visited Miss Gladys SUDBURY last week.

A. B. COLLEY of Halls is here laying brick on the new drug store.

Mauldin POSTON of Maury City was here Monday.

B. F. SUDBURY was in Alamo Wednesday.

Dr. J. P. SIMS went to Dyersburg Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. J. V. TRAFFORD and Miss Zelma JONES were in town shopping Wednesday and were visitors at the editor's home.

Miss Lida Sue SIMS returned Saturday from a visit to relatives near Dyer.

Mrs. T. G. MILLER and daughter, Mrs. Bertha WILSON of Halls are guest of Mr. and Mrs. F. S. MOORE.

Misses Kathleen CARTER, Mary McABEE, Sudie CATES, Vera FIELDERS and Katy STEPHENSON of Maury City attended the masked carnival at the skating ring Friday night.

Eld. R. F. C. MOSS of Dyersburg spent last night in the city.

John CLARK leaves for Little Rock, Ark. Sunday.

Miss Winnie DAVIS is spending her vacation in Alamo.

Mrs. Creedie BOLING of Bells and Miss Allie PERRY of Johnson Grove are visiting Miss Thelma BOLING.

Mrs. E. W. BOLING and little son, E. W., visited relatives in McLemoresville, Tenn., last week.

Ed EDWARDS, the popular hotel man of Crockett Mills, was in town Saturday night.

Asa DEAN of the Crockett Mills vicinity was on our street Saturday.

Miss Fannie Mai GREEN and Miss Georgie WARMATH of Tigrett attended church here Sunday morning.

Mr. and Mrs. LOWRENCE were in our town Sunday visiting their daughter, Mrs. Bob BERKE.

Rev. J. A. McLLWAIN of Dyer passed through our town Sunday in his car.

Mrs. Gordon WORTHINGTON, who has been confined to her bed for several days, is able to be up.
