Confederate Applications for Pardon

Most of the people were not Confederate soldiers, just people who supported the rebellion. A. J. Fletcher, a lawyer from Newport and the census-taker for 1850, was Tenn Secretary of State at the time of these applications and provided opinions on some of the men, some good, some bad. The applications occurred in 1865-1867. The code is made up of: CAPx - "Confederate Applications for Pardon" plus the first letter of the first surname on the roll, -#### - the first page for that person, and -#### - the last page for that person.
