{"id":1300,"date":"2013-09-09T14:57:31","date_gmt":"2013-09-09T19:57:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tngenweb.org\/blount\/?p=1300"},"modified":"2013-08-31T14:58:30","modified_gmt":"2013-08-31T19:58:30","slug":"tipton-william-fightin-billy-d-1849","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tngenweb.org\/blount\/tipton-william-fightin-billy-d-1849\/","title":{"rendered":"TIPTON, William &#8220;Fightin&#8217; Billy&#8221; &#8211; (d. 1849)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Died in Blount County, Tennessee, November 3rd, <strong>Mr. William Tipton<\/strong>. \u00a0<strong>Mr. Tipton<\/strong> was born in Shenandoah County, Virginia, Feburary 13, 1761. \u00a0He entered the service a mere boy, under Capt. \u00a0 Langdon, 1776, was at the siege and storming of Savannah, where he was severley wounded and left on the field all night, as dead. \u00a0He is a brother to <strong>Capt. Abraham Tipton<\/strong>, who was under <strong>Col. Joseph Crockett,<\/strong> and who fell at Briargrass Creek, September 20, 1781, and also to <strong>Capt.
