'm looking for info on "Gillespie Station" (aka Burnt Station or Gillespie's Fort). It was named after William Gillespie and built abt. 1785. It was located on the Little River in what is now Blount County, I believe. On October 15, 1788 the Indians athe fort and captured 28 women and children. My 6th gr-grandfather, Thomas Brown, was seriously injured in the fight and his family captured (according to his 1818 Rev. War Pension affidavit). The captives were later exchanged for Indian prisoner by Gen Sevier (for a lb of salt according to Brown family legend). Any info anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated for generations.
