Searching for info on Marcus Alfonso Duke (born October 21, 1876 and died February 14,
1943 ) who was first married to a Sarah E. on the 1910 census. I don't believe he had any
children with this wife. Later married to Mamie Elizabeth Russell (born April 25, 1889 and
died April 18, 1967) living in Maryville, Blount County, TN. Marcus Alfonso was a taylor
by trade. Travelled around the area in a horse pulled wagon acquiring business. Any help
would be appreciated.

families lived in Monroe & poss Blount Co. I'd really love to find out any little bit
of info. It will be a bridge to understanding my heritage. I live in another state, that

I am looking for information on a John D. Miller or a John David Miller who migrated from
Blount County to Madison County, IN sometime prior to 1839. He supposedly owned a large
farm and several slaves in Blount County. He is said to have had a fall- ing out with the
family down there and sold out and came to Ind- iana. In later years, his children offered
to pay his way back to TN, if he would make the trip to re-establish contact with the
"lost branch" of the family. He refused to do so. Apparent- ly the falling out
was so serious that he pretty much refused to talk about it. As a result, no one up here
has very much infor- mation about our "roots" in Blount County, TN.

Hello! I would *love* to correspond with anyone researching RUSSELLs of Carter and Blount
Cos., TN, especially RUSSELLs who lived in these locations prior to 1840. According to the
"Memorial and Biographical History of Dallas Co., Texas", my great-great-great
grandfather (James RUSSELL) was born in Blount Co., TN on 22 Mar 1822. James' Mexican War
pension papers confirm this. The Dallas Co. book also mentions that James' grandfather was
William Russell and that William Russell's parents were "among the first pioneers and
settlers of Carter Co., TN". James' father was Hezekiah RUSSELL. Hezekiah's family
was as follows: Hezekiah RUSSELL (b. 26 Sep 1794 in the area that became Carter Co., TN;
d. 9 May 1880 in Waverly, Morgan Co., IL) his wife: Margaret GOUGER (b. abt. 1792 in NC;
