Searching for info on Wife of Caleb CARTER. Caleb lived about 20 miles East of Knoxville, in Blount Co on land adjacent to Edward Chisnutts, John Gillespy and William Gray in 1787. Caleb's children were Levi abt 13, Israel abt 9, Rebecca abt 7 and Sarah abt 4, and a new born Benjamin. The families have been unable to find the name of Caleb's wife..Any help will be appreciated.. I and other members of the James Clan have been seeking information on Elijah K. JAMES a/k/a E. K. James for years. He was born about 1793 in VA. By the time time of the War of 1812 he is shown in the mustor rolls of the East TN Militia as being from Blount Co. We do not know the name of his first wife, but they produced at least two children: my great-great grandfather Elisha JAMES, born July 7, 1816, and Washington JAMES, born about 1820. At about the same time they came to AR, we think by flatboat down the Tenn. River, then the Miss. River, and then up the St. Francis River into AR. They were accompanied by the GOODWIN Family from Hanover Co, VA. We would appreciate any information on Eljah JAMES's ancestors, and the name and ancestors of his wife.

Abner Witt left Knoxville around 1800 and moved to the Sale Creek area. His wife may have been Anna Churchwell\Churchill. His son, Charles Wylie married Alabama Gibson in Knoxville. They also moved to Sale Creek. Charles's son, Samuel H. Witt, married Jane Varner and moved to Fentriss Co. about 1849. They joined other relatives there. About 1862 Samuel & Jane moved to Casey County, Ky. & then on to Taylor Co. Ky. Samuel became a preacher & is buried with Jane @ Spurlington Methodist Cemetary in Taylor Co. Ky.

Seeking siblings and parents of James Monroe RICE, born 10Aug1803 in TN. He married Sarah HEDRICK in Blount Co,TN in 1828 and was in Sevier in 1830, Blount in 1840 and Knox in 1850. By 1860, he and his entire clan had moved to Blount Co,AL. Daughter, Rebecca, published in 1893 that her paternal grandparents were another James RICE and a Rebecca BORDEN. In the Knox Co,TN census for 1850, the household after JMR's was that of his married daughter, Jane RICE HAUN, which included a Rebecca RICE, age 97, born VA.
Have a good bit of info on the ancestry of Sarah HEDRICK but nothing else on the RICE line. Anyone else possibly researching these folks?

Their first child, John, was born 20 Jan 1811. They moved to MO in 1817 with Mary's father, Girrard, and several other BRICKEYS. Thomas died 1822 in Washington, Co, MO and Mary died in Crawford Co,MO in 1858. Thomas, John and Evan DOBKINS received E.TN Land Grants on Dunn's Creek in Sevier Co. in 1810. Evan possibly was Thomas' father; if not, then it very likely was Reuben DOBKINS in Jefferson Co. I would like to hear from anyone with information about this family.

Looking for marriage record of William Lewis TAYLOR and Nancy WEIR in Blount County October 6, 1806. I have been unable to find a record of the marriage. A handwritten document in my possession written in 1806 to the above William Taylor is dated about a month prior to the marriage. I have fairly good records on this family after they settled in Blount Co but have not been able to locate any of Williams siblings if any of them settled in the Blount Co area.
Also need information on adopted son named Joseph Griffen(Griffin). Adoption records are dated in 1808. I am looking for any information that I can find on the descendants of Joseph Griffin(Griffen)Taylor. The family settled in Polk County in the 1830s. The family first settled in the town of Columbus Tn. and then in the Benton area. Many of the family are still living in the general Polk County area but I have found no record of Joseph after they left Blount County around 1819. I would appreciate any information that might indicate what happened to Joseph.

Alfred HUCHINS - NC>GA>NC>TN>? Alfred HUCHINS (also spelled HUGGINS), born Rutherford Co, NC in 1828, married Rachel (possibly a WALDROP). They were in Union Co, GA in the 1850 census, in Cherokee Co, NC for the 1860 census, and in Blount Co, TN in 1870. His children were Joseph, Elisha, William, Pinckney, Elsberry, and Elizabeth.
