TNGenWeb Query Board

TNGenWeb has set up a Forum board for every TN county to replace the soon-to-be-gone Rootsweb boards.  Note that this new Query Board works differently than the RootsWeb Mailing Lists.  You will log into the Query Board and read queries and reply to them.  You can also choose to receive email notifications when a new query has been added to your favorite counties, but you will not receive an email containing the actual query - just a notice of the query.  You will have to log into the Query Board to view the queries.

Instructions:

1) go to http://tngenweb.org/boards

2) One-Time Registration:  Click the 'Register' link near the top right of the window.  Click on "I agree to these terms" to continue the registration process. Choose a Username, enter your email address, then choose and retype a Password.  Lastly, enter the Confirmation Code that is shown on the screen.  Click the Submit button at the bottom.

3) Once registered, click the 'Return to the index page' link to see the list of county boards that you can read or subscribe to.

4) Viewing or Subscribing to a particular county's forum (board):

    a) Click on a county name to see its board and to see the recent posts to that board
    b) If you want to "subscribe" to a board and get an email notification when someone has posted a message to the board, un-check the 'Subscribe forum' check box at the bottom once you are inside the board.  You will receive a pop-up message confirming that you have subscribed to that county's board.

5) Starting a New Topic:

    a) To start a new discussion Topic, click the "New Topic" button, which should appear in red letters.  Type your information into the window, then click "Submit".

6) Replying to a message:

    a) If you are reading a Topic and want to reply to it, click the "Post Reply" button at the bottom of the Topic, also in red letters.

7) Notifications:

    a) After you have registered, you are supposed to receive an email whenever:

      i) Someone creates a topic in a forum (county) to which you are subscribed;

     ii) Someone replies to a topic to which you are subscribed
