World War Veteran Claimed by Death

James Luther Poore died Wednesday, July 1,

age 37 years, 8 months and 4 days. He had been

ill with tuberculosis since returning from the World

war, where he served as a volunteer with the Marine

Corps. His death was unexpected, as he was able to

drive his car into Sparta on the day before his death.

On Wednesday, he took seriously ill with a hemorrhage

and lived only a few minutes. Luther was big-hearted

fellow an a true friend to his companions. He professed

faith in Christ several months before his death.

 

Funeral services were held at the home of his mother,

Mrs. Alice Poore, conducted by Rev. Oscar Jones, Rev.

J. W. Allison and members of the American Legion.

Interment was at New Hope cemetery.

 

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vada Poore; three

daughters, Essie Gaines, Ella Jean and Alice Jane:

his mother, Mrs. Alice Poore; one sister, Mrs. Floyd

Harris; and one brother, Arthur Poore.

 

The bereaved have our deepest sympathy.
