PATTON, HARRISON

My great-great grandfather was George Michael Dallas PATTON from Wilson Co, TN. He married Eliza Jane HARRISON (believe they called her Jennie). His father was Thomas M. Patton and his mother was Nancy _________(?). I would like information as to what happened to the siblings of George Michael Dallas Patton and also who were theparents of Eliza Jane Harrison and who were her siblings. George Michael Dallas Patton and Eliza Jane Harrison moved to Muhlenberg Co, where they are first censused in l880. He had a brother named Zorro. I do not know what happened to him but he had a son named Alonzowho resided in Central City, Muhlenberg Co., KY. Would like some information on Zorro's children.

HUNT, HARLOW

I see Thomas Hunt listed on 1810-1850 census,believe he's father to my ggg grandmother, Elizabeth (Hunt) Harlow. Looking for any info on him and/or his kin. You know other children/his bros./sisters. Also looking for info on any known Harlow's in Tennessee prior to state- hood(pre 1796). Overton Harlow was in Tenn. Milita during War of 1812, but how did he get there, when did he get there? Seems like he disappeared from Virginia(b.1782) and appeared in the War of 1812. Who where his family (brothers/sisters)?Records show parents both died in Virginia but I find no evidence of either. Woe is me.

John COMPTON md. Lucinda TRAVILIAN/TRAVILLIAN in Wilson Co 9 JUN 1812. Have found a John Bailey COMPTON named as the son of Charles COMPTON and Margaret GEORGE in Virginia LDS records. Grandpa said they always referred to John as "Bally". The Wilson records hold a will for Charles COMPTON 1827 will book #71 and the 1830 Census record shows a Peggy COMPTON. I am trying to find information on Benjamin Drew who appears in the 1820 census of Wilson Co.,Tenn. According to this census he had 8 sons and two daughters. He and wife were in the 45 to over age group. I believe he might have married around 1799, and that possibly he was father of Jonathan Drew b. 1800 in NC and who marr'd in Rutherford Co.,Tn., Jane Martin. He had a brother John A CLAY, who may have died in Wilson Co, date unknown. He is known to have witnessed a TREVILLIAN family will. The family had strong links to Kentucky, and I am trying to make the connection, if it exists with the Kentucky Clays. He also had a brother or uncle named Mitchell. Any help would be appreciated.

There is a John on the 1840 Census but by 1850 Barshaba BRADBERRY 50 (f) VA - is head of the household. Those in here household: Nancy 22; Andrew 8; Isena (sp?) (f)17; Mary 15; and Dicy 13. All born TN. I know tht Dicy married J W BIRDSONG in Panola Co., TX 1 Sept 1859 and then N J ROGERS of Panola Co., Tx ca 1865. By 1880 Barshaba BRADBERRY is head-of-household in Johnson Co., TX living with A J BRADBERRY (probbly her son Andrew) b ca 1830 TN. There is a Mary Ann BRADBERRY 14 years of age in the home. In 1890 NJ and Dicy BRADBERRY Rogers file a proof of heirship that this Mary E is only child of Daniel R BRADBURY and that he is deceased. Looking for any information on the Moses ODOM who was in Wilson Co., TN as early as 1806. He owned 150 acres and was a member of Captain Crawley's Company. Was he the son Moses mentioned in James Odom's will in Sumner Co. in 1829?

BLACKWOOD, THOMAS

Seeking descendants of John THOMAS and Martha BLACKWOOD. Migrated from Shenandoah Co., VA ca. bef. 1815 to Wilson Co., TN. John's brother(s) settled in Rutherford Co., TN around the same time, as did Martha's brother, James BLACKWOOD. It's probable that the families remained in contact for some time after migration from VA. In the 1840 US Census for Wilson Co., on p. 231, is a Blackwood THOMAS. I believe him to be a son of John and Martha. I've found no other record of him. On p. 236 of the same census is a John THOMAS. Is this John, the father of Blackwood and the husband of Martha? Willing to exchange info on THOMAS and BLACKWOOD families. TIA.

Cynthia (Syntha) BYRN was born in TN (probably Wilson Co., TN), daughter of James BYRN and Rebecca WORD. James and Cynthia WILSON/WILLSON were in Obion Co., TN in 1850, and Gibson Co., TN in 1860, living adjacent to Benjamin F. Wilson, also from VA. James WILSON and Benjamin WILSON may be the sons of Benjamin WILSON, who had died in 1831 in Wilson Co., TN, when Elizabeth WILSON was named the guardian of the minor children of Benjamin WILSON. James WILSON was not listed among his minor children, but James WILSON would not have been a minor in 1831.

OWEN

Looking for information about the family of Harvey Donald OWEN, born 11/24/1870 in Lebanon, TN, died 10/3/1906 in OK Territory. His siblings were Claud OWEN, born 8/20/1881, died 1971. Myrtle OWEN, died after 1951. Claud was a Dean at Bluefield College, Bluefield, VA for years. I don't know the parents' names but I have a letter from Myrtle OWEN to my grandmother in which she said her father was born in Wythville, Va about 1830. The family house burned down and they moved to TN with a 2-wheel cart carrying their belongings.

Am seeking info on a Thomas A. RUTLAND married to Mary FRANKLIN. He was the father of W.W. RUTLAND and an Arthur Craig RUTLAND. In 1882 Mary died 2 mo. after childbirth of A.G. RUTLAND Thomas took WW. and left AG with a relative in Bagwell, Texas. AG was adopted by that family, the WC CARPENTERS and his wife Eliz MOORE who was a relative to Mary Franklin. How I don't know. I would like to communicate with anyone researching the CARTER family of Middle Tennessee. Specifically, I am researching the family of Benjamin and Nancy Carter (b. 1835). They had the following children: Leroy (b. 1862). Elisha (b. 1866), Charlotte (b. 1868), Benjamin R. (b. 1871), Martha (b. 1872), Sarah (b. 1875), Mary, and Joseph. Looking for information about Buchanan JAMES who lived as an adult in Statesville, Wilson County, Tennessee. I am particularly interested in finding out who his parents were. He was born in North Carolina c1790 and moved to Statesville, TN about 1810. He married Margaret "Peggy" McMinn Lewis c1815 in TN.

Buchanan James, Sr. bought land in Warren County Tennessee on Jan. 16, 1832 from a William James of Warren County. Wit: Daniel James, James James, and Lutha James. Buchanan James died c1858.

MOSLEY, STOVER, GAVIN

At the Cedar Grove Cemetery there is a headstone for a ELIZABETH G. MOSLEY with the title of AUNT on the top of the headstone. The headstones of JS MOSLEY and his wife, ELIZABETH CATHERINE STOVER MOSLEY had the title of FATHER and MOTHER, respectively. I have yet to find just how ELIZABETH G. is related to JS MOSLEY. In a search in the Tennessee Archives for ELIZABETH G. MOSLEY. I found her listed as the daughter of John GAVIN. Also listed as a child of John GAVIN is Philander W. GAVIN. There were three GAVIN headstones in the same priviledge with JS MOSLEY: Robert A., Mary Jane and Philander. I found a marriage record for John GAVIN and Mary Jane MOSLEY at the archives for 1849. Elizabeth G. MOSLEY's headstone lists her as being born in 1847, thereby leading me to believe that either she was born prior to Mary Jane's marriage to John; either illegitimately or from a previous marriage. So now, how is Mary Jane MOSLEY related to my JS MOSLEY?

I am looking for information on several MOSLEY's (all spellings) of Wilson County. During a search of the Cedar Grove Cemetary in Lebanon I came across several headstone (all in the same previledge/section) that are related to my husband's 2nd Great Grandfather J.S. MOSLEY/MOSELY. JS MOSELY is listed on the Confederate Monument within the cemetary. Some research has revealed that he, JOSEPHUS S. MOSLEY, did serve in Co. B, of the 45th Tennessee Infantry. In the same section, there was a headstone for a ELIZABETH G. MOSLEY with the title of AUNT on the top of the headstone. The headstones of JS MOSLEY and his wife, ELIZABETH CATHERINE STOVER MOSLEY had the title of FATHER and MOTHER, respectively. I have yet to find just how ELIZABETH G. is related to JS MOSLEY. I found three headstones that appear to be JS's children: Mary E., Josephus and Sam P. Samuel P. is his son. Both of Sam's wife's and their children are buried there. In a search in the Tennessee Archives for ELIZABETH G. MOSLEY.

MASSEY

I was visiting my father in Macon Co. TN and on Thurs., Sept. 3rd I went to Wilson Co., TN looking for the old MASSEY Cemetery on Taylor Road. The road is about 1.2 miles from the intersection of Chicken Pike and US70. I found Taylor Circle and a dirt road leading off to the right which I assumed to be Taylor Rd. I traveled the necessary distance per the directions I was given by Jim Pulley about the cemetery. I did not locate the cemetery but discovered that another man had been looking for the same cemetery the day before (Sept. 2). I ask two different people and the story was the same.
