Queries

Please follow these guidelines for sending your
query:
- If your lines are not in Williamson County, please
do not enter a query here.
- Your query must have a STATED Williamson County connection, or it will
not be posted.
- Enter your query exactly as you want it to appear.
- Please put all SURNAMES in CAPS. It is easier to see them.
- Include dates that you know. Names without dates are not very useful.
In your research of queries, don't forget to check out the queries that were
posted during the previous months. Links to them are at the bottom of this query
page. Queries start with May 1998.
Note: Query pages within the TNGenWeb project are for those researchers
requesting or offering assistance in tracing their lineage. The TNGenWeb
volunteers are dedicated to providing this FREE online Internet genealogical
Web Site for the general public. It is NOT the policy of TNGenWeb to charge
you.
It has come to our attention that some folks, when answering a query, have
been asking to be paid for research. We do recognize that it would be fair to
be asked to be reimbursed for postage and photocopy costs. However, charging
research fees for information pertaining to the original query would be
questionable at best.
If anyone is asked to pay for any information, other than to cover the cost of
postage and copying, please let the State
Coordinator know.
Looking for information on Ingram Blanks Peebles, who came to
Williamson Co. from Northampton Co., NC. Not sure of the date of his
relocation, but his brother (according to one source) who was Howell
Peebles, Jr., and another brother, Samuel, were in Williamson Co.
about 1817. Ingram Blanks would have been all of six at that time,
so may not have made the trip quite that soon, but he was there by
April 23, 1833, when he married Minerva A. Scales. They had six
children, including Samuel Pinckney Peebles (my ggrandfather), five
of whom were born in Williamson County. The sixth was born in
Bastrop Co., Texas. Appreciate any help.

William and Mary Stone lived in Williamson County from about 1800
until their death. William died about 1815 and Mary died about 1827.
Their son, Rowland Stone, lived there until he moved to Calloway
County, KY, about 1829. They came from SC where they lived for about
30 years. They were originally from Ireland. I would like to have
any information on them and the brothers and sisters of Rowland.

My great great grandfather, Jasper N. Meador, was born in Williamson
Co., TN 1818. He married Mary Ann Foster in 1836. It appears from
1820, 1830, and 1840 Censuses that Jasper N.'s father was Jonas
Meador. The family name was spelled three different ways in 1820,
1830, and 1840. Other possible sons of Jonas were Joseph R. Meador,
who married Rebecca Parham; Jones R. Meador, and William Meador.
Jonas was born in North Carolina about 1780. There was a Joseph
Meador listed along with him, who was born in NC about 1775. THere
also was a James Meador listed between 1800 and 1810 on tax records.
Would like to be able to establish Jonas as Jasper N.'s father.
Also, connection with Joseph. Would like to know more about their
parents; where in North Carolina did they come from? Thanks for

Hello. I have one more query *sorry for so many*. I mentioned before
that I was looking for the line of Hunters in Williamson Co., TN. I
have a bit more information. My granfather, Tommy Hunter, was born on
the Benny HUNTER farm, Route 6, Hillsboro, Williamson Co., TN. His
father, my great-granfather, Tom Hunter (b.late 1870s), married Ollan
*Orlean* COWENS (b.late 1880s), on the same farm, although Ollan was
from a near-by farm. I have been told the Hunter family of Benny
Hunter's Farm in Hillsboro no longer owns the land. I would like to
trace Tom Hunter's family, and Ollan's family. There was another
larger farm not too far away in Mt. Pleasant, Maury Co., TN, where
there were also two HUNTERS (James and Jones Hunter) who owned farms,
and I am wondering if Benny and these two men may have possiby been
related, and if they were related to my family. Thanks, in advance,
for any info you'd be willing to share. :o)

I am researching my CUMMINS and COLE ancestors and recently found out
about some land that was deeded from THOMAS CUMMINS to THOMAS COLE
in Williamson co. Is there anyone familiar with this event? It was
around the early 1800(1809-1812)I would love to know the area the
land was in. Thanks

I am searching for Michael Little born in Tenn. either 1824 or 1827
(different on two census forms). He moved to Scott County, Illinois
by 1850. Can anyone help me with this person. I do not know his
parents only that he was born in Tenn. According to 1830-1840
Tennessee Census there is a male child the right age in Williamson
county with the last name Little. Do you have any Little's who moved
to Scott County Illinois or that area?

HELP!!!!!!! I am looking for information on the family of James W.
Stephenson b. 1765 NC and married Rosannah (I believe her maiden name
was HOPE) in 1784 York Co., SC. They moved to the Davidson Co., TN
area and when it split they were in Maury Co., TN. Their son William
A. Stephenson was in Williamson Co. Their daughter Sarah D.
Stephenson md. Samuel Boyd Patton in Davidson Co. in Jan 1809. They
lived in Williamson Co. until 1816 when they removed to the Walker
Co., AL area.
Samuel B.(Boyd) PATTON is my 3rd great grandfather and his obituary
indicated that he was an orphan. I know about the Patton families
from Williamson, but I can't seem to tie him to any one of them.
Samuel B. Patton was born in 1784 in SC and according to the obituary
removed to TN in 1806.
I need your HELP!!!!!!!! Any help will be greatly appreciated.
