Providence Baptist Church Petition 1833

This petition was found by the late Earl Arnett of Columbus, Ohio in 1984 at the Tennessee State Archives and Library. He copies it and submitted a copy to the Wayne County Historical Society. Providence Baptist Church was the "mother church" of Memorial and Indian Creek Baptist Churches. Providence Baptist Church was active from before 1833 until 1909 when the church split; some of the members went to Memorial Church, while others started the Indian Creek Baptist Church at Three Churches. The petition and affixed names and signatures follow.
