MURPHY, Matthew, Pvt., Co. A, 1st AL Mounted Volunteers, commanded by Cpt. J. N. BOSTON. Soldier mustered in 3 June 1836 in Montgomery, AL, discharged 13 Aug 1836, Huntsville, AL. Soldier resided in Lauderdale Co., AL in 1836 and was a farmer and blacksmith. In 1887 Soldier applied for a pension from Booneville, Prentiss Co., MS. At that time he was 76 years old, 5'10", dark complected, dark hair and dark eyes. No other information in file. Application number IA-24459R (rejected), filed 19 March 1887. Submitted by Edgar D.
