ROSTER OF COMPANY B, 9th TENNESSEE CAVALRY CSA

Contributed by Mrs. Dallas HAGAN, Leoma, TN 38468 and Edgar D. Byler, III

The original of this roster was prepared by R. R. REYNOLDS, Second Sergeant of the Company for a Reunion about 1900. R. R. REYNOLDS was the brother of J. M. REYNOLDS, the company commander. The original is in the possession of Mrs. Weevie AUGUSTINE, St. Joseph, TN, a granddaughter of R. R. REYNOLDS.

The company was raised in southern Wayne County and Lawrence County, Tennessee and northern Lauderdale County, Alabama on 24 August 1862. The company roster indicates that this company was part of the 9th Tennessee Cavalry, however, it was also known as the 19th Tennessee Cavalry Regiment and was commanded by Col. Jacob BIFFLE. It was also referred to as BIFFLE'S 9th. For a short description of the engagements in which this company and regiment were involved, please refer to Tennesseans In The Civil War, Volume 1, pages 95-97.

R. R. REYNOLDS listed each member of the company. If the individual were still living, he gave the place of residence where known. If the member died or was killed during the war, he states the place of death. At a later date from which the original was prepared, REYNOLDS again annotated the list stating who was dead.
