WEBB, ISAAC HAMPTON (1884 - 1953)
Hamp Webb, 69, Electrician, Dies
Isaac Hampton (Hamp) Webb, a plumber for McMinnville Harware & Furniture Company for some 40 years, died unexpectedly at his home on Sparta Street Sunday at 10:30 p.m. His death was attributed to a heart attack. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the chapel of High Funeral Home. Rev. C.B. Smith pastor of First Methodist Church, officiated and burial was in Mt View cemetery. A native of Van Buren county, Mr. Webb was born March 26, 1884. He was a son of Isaac Denton Webb and Melissa Moore Webb and he was married July 4, 1908 to Miss Eva Elizabeth Gibbs. She survives. Mr. Webb was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and until his retirment a few months ago was the local hardware firm’s oldest employee in years of service. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Bessie Davis, Brandenburg, Ky., and two sons, Villa and Edwin E. Webb, McMinnville; four brothers, Harley Mauga, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. B. and Everett Webb, Nashville, and Joe and Asa Webb, B. Chicha-Lillian Waltz, California, Mrs. Ocie Jett, Nashville, and Mrs. Bessie Duke, Rome, Ga. High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.Southern Standard, McMinnville, TN. WEBB, MOLLIE (1871 - 1953)
Rites Wednesday For Mrs. Webb
Mrs. Mollie Webb, widow of James Webb, died at the home of her son, Lusk Webb, near Dibrell, Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. She suffered a stroke of paralysis three days earlier. Mrs. Webb was 81 years of age. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Bluff Springs Church of Christ with John W. High officiating. Burial was in Webb Cemetery. A native of Warren county, Mrs. Webb was born November 11, 1871. She was a daughter of John Lusk and Levica Clark Lusk and she was married to Mr. Webb in 1890. Survivors, in addition to her son, are two other sons, Roy and Clarence Webb, Shellbyville, and one daughter, Mrs. W. M. Douglas, McMinnville. WEBB, Nina Dean (c 1901 - 2000)
Nina Dean Webb, 99
Former McMinnville resident Nina Dean Webb, 99, died Nov. 15, just three days before her 100th birthday, at Wesley Nursing Home in Millington. A native of McComb, Ms., she was the daughter of Horace S. and Ophelia Tyree Webb of Smithville. She studied art and portrait photography and was associated with portrait artists in the East prior to establishing successful studios in Pennsylvania, California and Ohio, and enjoying a long professional career. After her retirement in 1968, she returned to Tennessee and was a resident of McMinnville for 10 years and of Park Manor in Nashville for 17 years. While in McMinnville, she served as church librarian for First United Methodist Church where she was a member. Miss Webb was preceded in death by all of her closest friends and relatives and elected to donate her remains to Vanderbilt University.Southern Standard, McMinnville, TN. Dec. 1, 2000, p. 1-A.

WEBB, NORA COUCH (circa 1899 - 1974)
Mrs. Nora Couch Webb, 75-year-old widowed native of this county, died unexpectedly at Miller Hospital, Nashville, at 2:45 p.m. Saturday. A member of the Church of Christ, she resided in Nashville and was married to Clarence Webb, who preceded her in death in 1964. She was the daughter of the late Felix and Lou Gribble Couch. Survivors include two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Claude Tucker, East Point, Ga; Mrs. Virgie Cotton, Akron, and a brother, Charley Couch, Mobile, Ala., as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

WEBB, T.F. (Tip) (circa 1876-1949)
Mrs. Womack's Father Buried At Mt Gilead
Funeral services for T.F. (Tip) Webb, father of Mrs. Luther Womack of McMinnville, were conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Mt. Gilead Methodist Church in White county. Rev. Reed was in charge and burial was in the church cemetery with Masonic rites being conducted at the grave. Mr. Webb, 73, died in a Sparta hospital Thursday night after an illness of over six months. A lifelong resident of White county, Mr. Webb retired from state employment about ten months ago due to ill health. Besides his daughter here, he is survived by his wife; another daughter, Miss Jean Webb of Anderson, Ind., and a son, Skeet Webb, Doyle.Southern Standard, McMinnville, TN. WEED, Harvey (1861 - circa 1885)
On Monday night, at 10 o'clock, at the residence of his stepfather, Sherman Drury, Mr.Harvey Weed, after a few weeks illness. Mr. Weed was born in Illinois in 1861, and at a very early age moved with is parents to Indiana, where he lived until about two years ago, he moved with his father's family to this place. At the time of his death he was about 24 years of age. He was a kind hearted, industrious young man, and during the short time here, made many warm friends. Funeral service conducted by Dr. G.T. Stainback, was held Wednesday morning at the family residence, after which his remains were taken to the new cemetery for interment, accompanied by a number of friends. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community.

Mrs. Mattie Wells Buried Thursday
Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Wells, former resident of McMinnville, were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Chapel of the High Funeral Home. Rev. Calvin C. Wigley, Church of God Pastor, officiated and burial was in Providence cemetery. Mrs. Wells died Tuesday at the home of a niece, Mrs. Johnny F. Rich, near Shelbyville. Mrs. Wells was a native of Cannon county born April 22, 1881. While a resident of McMinnville she resided with a niece, Mrs. Floyd Redmon. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Womack and Mrs. Lela Dugan, both of Chattanooga. Arrangements were by High Funeral Home.Southern Standard, McMinnville, TN. Shirley Wells, 73, dies at River Park
McMinnville resident and Akron, Ohio native Shirley Wells, 73, died March 9 at River Park Hooospital after an extended illness. A retired employeee of Caterpillar Tractor and a member of the Christian Fellowship Church, he served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. The son of the late Farmer and Pearl Martin Wells, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Marlowe. He is survived by his wife, Liza A. Marlowe Wells of Peoria, Ill.; two sons, Robert M. Wells of Abbeville, Ala. and Roger A. Wells of Peoria, Ill.; two step-sons, Joe G. Marlowe of Peoria, Ill. and Kelly Marlowe of McMinnville; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Blues Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2- p.m. today and Saturday until time of service at the funeral home. Rites In Smithville For Mrs. West, 48
Funeral services for Mrs. Covar Maxwell West, 48, who died at Van Hosier clinc in Smithville Monday, were conducted yesterday at 11 a.m. at the Smithville Baptist Church. Rev. W.H. Barton and Dr. King officiated and burial was in Whorton Springs cemetery. Mrs. West was a sister of Robert and Model Maxwell of McMinnville. She was a native of DeKalb County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonn Maxwell. She had been a resident of Nashville since 1936 and was a member of Edgefield Baptist Church there. Survivors include her parents; a daughter, two sons, two sisters and another brother. Also five grandchildren.

Forrest Eugene West, 53, of Nashville, died Sunday at his residence. Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Love Cantrell Funeral Home in Smithville with Rev. Bob Hardison officiating. Burial was in Keltonburg Cemetery. A native of Dekalb County, Mr. West was married to Lavonia Russell West who survives. He was a welder with Avco in Nashville. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Larry West, Ronald West, and Michael West, all of Nashville; one daughter, Mrs. Carol Billings of Smithville; seven sisters, Mrs. Novella Sanders, Mrs. Della Stewart, Mrs. Cleopha Wheat, Mrs. Harriet Lewis and Miss. Macon West, all of Nashville, Mrs. Jessie Wright of Goodlettsville, and Mrs. Euladean Jones of McMinnville; and three grandchildren. McMinnville -- Services for Perry G. West, 77, were today at High's Chapel with burial in Webb Cemetery. Mr. West died Sunday in a Tullahoma hospital after a long illness. A native of Warren County, he was a son of the late St. Clair and Ocie Potter West. Mr. West, a veteran of World War I; and a member of the Church of Christ. Nurseryman Robert L. (Bob) West, 53-year-old resident of the Green Hill community, was dead on arrival at Good Samaritan Hospital, Woodbury, on Thursday. A native of DeKalb County and a member of the Baptist Church, he was a son of the late Hershal and Bertie Russell West. Besides his wife, the former Rachel Underwood, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Betty Hollingsworth, Lavergne, and Mrs. Barbara Madden, Smyrna, two brothers and three sisters, Gordon and Woodrow Adcock, McMinnville, and Mrs. Barbara Foster, Mrs. Hallie Haley, both of McMinnville, and Mrs. Gladys Davis of Florida, as well as six grandchildren. Brothers Gary McBride and Eddie Cantrell officiated at last rites held in Love-Cantrell Chapel at _ p.m. Saturday, interment being in Bethel Cemetery. Warren County native Miss Shelby West, 87-year-old resident of 211 Blackwell Street, Tullahoma, died of a lingering illness in the Meadows Convalescent Center in Coffee County at 6 a.m. Thursday.
A retired music teacher and member of the Church of Christ, she was a daughter of the late St. Clair and Ocie Potter West. Survivors include a nephew, Paul W. Smotherman, Tullahoma, and a niece, Mrs. Hubert Crouch, Jr., Nashville. Brother Jack Reed conducted last rites in High's Chapel at 2 p.m. Friday, interment following in Webb Cemetery at Bluff Springs. Services Set For Mrs. Westphal; Dies On Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Westphal, age 77, Cleveland, Ga., will be held in the Flatwood Seven Day Adventist Church Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. A.E. Wade, minister, will officiate.
Mrs. Westphal, widow of Authur Westphal, died in Cleveland Sunday. The only survivor is one brother-in-law, Dr. O.M. Haywood, of Georgia. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and burial will be in the Flatwood Cemetery.

J.E. Wheeler Succumbs In Shreveport, La.
James E. Wheeler, 82-year-old Warren county native, died at his home in Shreveport, La., Saturday, March 12, following an illness of several months. Funeral services and burial were in Shreveport. A son of A.D. and Mary Northcutt Wheeler, the deceased left Warren county when a young man, going first to Texas and later moving to Shreveport where he made his home. He was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving are three sons, Clarence, Edward and Tom Wheeler and one daughter, Mrs. Fannie Hendricks, all of Shreveport, and three sisters, Mrs. James Sparks of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Clarence Hunter of Aurora, Ill, and Mrs. Fannie Martin of Alatamont.Southern Standard, McMinnville, TN. WHEELER, Margaret Nell Merriman (1918 - 1986)
Ill for the past year, Indianapolis resident Mrs. Margaret Wheeler, 67, died Saturday in Methodist Hospital there.
A native of Dunlap, she was the wife of Dale Wheeler and a daughter of the late Herbert T. and Mary Alice Herd Merriman.
In addition to her husband, She is survived by two daughters, Miss Kimberly L. Wheeler and Mrs. Karen D. Brown, both of Indianapolis. She is also survived by a brother and a sister, Joe and Martha L. Wanamaker of McMinnville, two half-brothers and two half-sisters, Marshall Merriman of Tampa, Fla., Allen Merriman of Tifton, Ga., Cindy Pennington of Orlando, Fla., Phillis Crawley of Brandon, Fla., two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Whitlock's Rites Wednesday
Funeral rites for James Thomas Whitlock, 90, who died Monday morning at 11 o'clock at Medical Clinic, were held Wednesday at 2 o'clock at Caney Branch Baptist Church. Rev. R.A. Taylor of Estill Springs officiated and burial was in Caney Branch cemetery. Mr. Whitlock had been ill of flu for two weeks prior to his death. He was a native of Warren county, born January
30, 1863. He was married to Miss Mahaley Starkey, who died in 1947, and for the past few years he had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Smoot in Morrison.
