CUNNINGHAM, George Albert
Final Rites for G.A. Cunningham Held Wednesday
Funeral services for George A. Cunningham, 62-year-old Coffee County farmer who died unexpectedly here Monday, were held at the Fountain Grove Methodist Church Wednesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Don Reeder was in charge of the service, and burial was in the Fountain Grove Cemetery. The Route 4, Morrison, farmer suffered an attack and died almost instantly on Main Street in McMinnville about 12 o'clock Monday. He was rushed to the Medical Clinic immediately following the attack and was pronounced dead upon arrival there. George Albert Cunningham was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Bryan Cunningham, and was born in Grundy County on February 27, 1895. He was married to Alice Massey Simmons on December 25, 1917. She survives; The deceased was member of the Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Robert Cunningham, McMinnville; two daughters, Mrs. R. D. Bryan, Morrison, and Mrs. R.L. Swann, Greenville, Mississippi, and five grandchildren. High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

High. Burial was in Fuston cemetery. Survivors: three sons, Homer, Everett and Bob Cunningham, of McMinnville; one sister, Mrs. Harling Cantrell, Smithville; five brothers, W. H. Bain and Sam Bain, of Smithville, Spencer and Oscar, of Nashville, and George Bain of West Virginia.

McMinnville Retired Business Man Had Been Ill Four Years
Was Descendant of Pioneer Settlers of Warren County
James Monroe Cunningham, 84, descendant of pioneer settlers of Warren county and one of McMinnville's few old time business men, died at his residence on West Main street at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, following an illness of four years. Funeral services will be conducted from the parlors of the High Funeral Home at 2 o'clock this afternoon by Rev. A. J. Van Wyk, pastor of the Main Street Presbyterian church, and assisted by the other ministers of McMinnville. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery.
Mr. Cunningham, who was born in Warren county May 21 1856, was a son of John Cunningham, III, grandson of John Cunningham, Jr., who served with Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812, and a great-grandson of John Cunningham, Sr., soldier of the Revolutionary War, upon whose land grants the family was established in the year 1804 at Rock Island, upon which the Tennessee Power company plant, now a part of the Tennessee Valley Authority system, was established.
When a mere youngster he drove the McMinnville-Sparta stage coach over the old Kentucky trail. At the age of seventeen he leased and operated a ferry across Caney Fork river at Rock Island. Following his studies at various schools he became associated with H.H. "Tip" Faulkner, A. H. Faulkner, J.C.M. Ross & Company and Morford & Biles business firms. In 1890 he opened his own dry goods and general merchandise business house in McMinnville, one of the largest in the county, and remained active in the business life of this city until 1912, when ill health forced his retirement.
During these years he served the community in various capacities. He served two terms as alderman of the town McMinnville soon after the turn of the century and under the administration of the late Jesse Walling, McMinnville's mayor. He also served on various boards and civic committees and at the time of his death was the senior elder of the Main Street Presbyterian church, having served as such for the past 48 years.
Mr. Cunningham was known throughout Warren and adjoining counties by multiple friends, for his favors, kindness and his business and personal integrity.
On November 11, 1890, he was married to Miss Mary Elizabeth Steakley, youngest daughter of William Lewis and Sarah Wheeler Steakley. Mr. Steakley was a trustee of Burritt college, Spencer and a sergeant in Gen. Dibrell's Confederate cavalry.
Besides his widow he leaves two sons, Col. Carlton Brown Cunningham of Chicago and James M. Cunningham, Jr., of McMinnville, one daughter, Mrs, Alvas A. Johnson of Gainesboro, two grandchildren, Mary Maude Cunningham of McMinnville and Andy Johnson of Gainesboro.

CUNNINGHAM, Jessie Crawford (1890 - 1944)
Mrs. Jessie Cunningham, 54, of McMinnville, died in a local hospital Thursday night of last week. She had been confined to the hospital for six weeks prior to her death. Mrs. Cunningham was born in Warren county March 30, 1890, and was a daughter of Reuben and Margaret McGregor Crawford. She is survived by her husband, formerly of McMinnville, but now living in Detroit, Mich.; a daughter, Miss Mary Lynn Cunningham; and three sons, Morris Cunningham, member of the Nashville Associated Press staff; Cpl. Neil Cunningham, stationed at Fort Warren, Wyoming, and Huel Cunningham, stationed with the army at Camp Gordon Johnson, Fla. The funeral was held from the chapel of the high Funeral Home at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon with Elder M. K. Pullias, minister of the Central Church of Christ. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bryan Greek, T.K. Couch, Bryan McGee, Lonnie Gilley, Marshall Couch and W.V. Jones. Arrangements by High Funeral company.

CUNNINGHAM, John (???? - 1885)
Death of John Cunningham.
On Wednesday night, May 20th, at his home near Irving College, John Cunningham died from the effects of hemorrhage of the lungs. He had been in feeble health for some time, but able to be about his business, and was up going about the day before his death. He was the son of Thomas Cunningham, one of the oldest citizens of this county. John was a good citizen, and leaves many relatives and friends, with whom we sympathize in their sad bereavement.

Mrs. Cunningham Dies Suddenly
Mrs. Mary Lou Cunningham, 65, Van Buren county native, died unexpectedly at her home in Murfreesboro last Sunday morning at 5:30 o'clock. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Hebron Church of Christ. John W. High officiated and burial was in Hebron cemetery. Born August 9, 1888, Mrs. Cunningham was a daughter of Wiley Curtis and Susie Bouldin Curtis. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Cantrell Mills, Memphis; four sons, Grover and Thomas Fults, McMinnville, J. V. and James Edward Fults, Murfreesboro. Also one brother, Will Curtis, Palmer. CUMMINGS, Bill (1877 - 1953)
Bill Cummings, colored Van Buren county farmer, died at his home in the second district February 26 at 8 p.m., following an illness of a year. He was 76. Funeral services were conducted February 28 at his residence at 2 p.m. with Jake Anderson officiating. Burial was in Sparkman cemetery. A native of Van Buren county, Cummings was born February 24, 1877. He was a son of Peter Cummings and Evie Shockley Cummings and was married to Etter Sparkman. She survives. The deceased was a member of the Baptist church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Betty Cummings, and a sister, Lillie Shockley.

Pauline Cummings
Pauline Cummings, 49, wife of J.W. Cummings,died at her home in the Cummingsville community of Van Buren county Saturday morning at 2:35 o’clock, following an illness of eleven months. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the colored Church of Christ in Sparta. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery. A native of White county, the deceased was born September 2, 1904. She was a daughter of Bill and Marcus Burden Cummings and she was a member of the Church of Christ. Besides her husband, she is survived by five sons and six daughters. J.B. Cummings of McMinnville was a son. Arrangements were by High Funeral Home.

Miss Lyda Cummins, 67, died at a Cookville hospital Sunday, following a lingering illness. Funeral rites were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., at Whitson Funeral Home in Cookville with Gilbert Shaffer, Church of Christ minister, officiating. Burial was in Smyrna cemetery there. Miss Cummins is survived by three brothers, two sisters and was a niece of Mrs. R.G. Rites At Smyrna For Mrs. Curtis
Funeral rites for Mrs. Louise Roberts Curtis, 72, widow of Tom Curtis, were conducted Monday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at Smyrna Church of Christ. John W. High officiated and burial was in Smyrna cemetery. Mrs. Curtis died Sunday morning at 11: 45 o’clock at her home on Beersheba Road after an illness of two weeks. A native of Van Buren county, she was born October 31, 1880. She was a daughter of W. Roberts and Martha Grissom Roberts and she was married January 25, 1901 to Mr. Curtis. He died several years ago. Mrs. Curtis was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors
include two sons, Thurman Curtis and William Curtis, McMinnville; six daughters, Mrs. Ova Woods and Mrs. Ocie Russell, both of McMinnville; Mrs. Oma Gambill, Shelbyville, Mrs. Beatrice Smith and Mrs. Ethel Pirtle, both of Fayettville and Mrs. Zadie Kesey, McMinnville. Mrs. Mattie Louise Curtis, former resident of Spencer, died in a Memphis
hospital Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 11:55 a.m. She had been in ill health about a year. Funeral services were conducted Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the Spencer Church of Christ. J. R. Bailey, West Riverside Church of Christ minister, officiated and burial was in the Spencer cemetery. Mrs. Curtis, native of Georgia, was born September 2, 1884. She was a daughter of Charles Butler and Mamie Jackson Butler and was married to James M. Curtis. He died in 1945. Mrs. Curtis was a member of the Church of Christ. Shelton Curtis Dies In Coffee
Oda Shelton Curtis, died February 21, in the Coffee county Hospital in Manchester. Death came as a result of injuries he sustained while working at the A.E.D.C. In Tullahoma in September 1955. He was buried February 21, 1956 in Rose Hill Memorial Garden in Coffee County. Surviving are his wife Jeanette McCoy Curtis; one daughter, Judy Shelton Curtis; one step-daughter, Mrs. Juanita Ashburn, Clarkrange, Tenn.; two step-sons, Lynn Hitchcock, Painsville, Ohio, James Lonnie Hitchcock, Chicago; one brother T.J. CUTTS, William Herman (1895 - 1953)
Rites Thursday For Herman Cutts
William Herman Cutts, 58, McMinnville laborer, died at his home on Red Road Wednesday morning at 3:45 o’clock, following an illness of five months. Funeral rites were held Thursday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock at the chapel of High Funeral Home. Rev. William Middleton, minister of the Church of the Nazarene, officiated and burial was in Riverside cemetery. Mr. Cutts, a native of Warren county, was born March 10, 1895. He was a son of John Cutts and Christina Asmus Cutts and he was married to Miss Lizzie Caldwell, who survives. Mr. Cutts served in the Army during World War I and had been employed in McMinnville most of his lifetime. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, W. H. Cutts, Painesville, Ohio, and George W. Cutts, McMinnville; three daughters, Miss Frances Cutts, McMinnville, Mrs. Fred L. Lawson, Painesville, Ohio, and Mrs. J. W. Barlow, Beauford, S.
