Chastain Infant's Rites Held Sunday Afternoon
Prayer services for Myra Lee Chastain, 2-month-old daughter of Ray Chastain and Irma Akers Chastain, were conducted Sunday afternoon at the chapel of High Funeral Home. John W. High officiated and burial was in Mt. View cemetery. The infant died Saturday morning at 12:30 o'clock at Good Samaritan hospital in Woodbury. It had been ill since birth. Survivors, in addition to the parents, are a sister, Vickie Ray Chastain, McMinnville; the paternal grandfather, Thomas Chastain, McMinnville, and the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.S. CHAMBERS, Charles E. (1881 - 1953)
C.E. Chambers, First Truck Line Operator, Dies
Charles E. Chambers, Operator of the first franchised truck line between McMinnville and Nashville, died at Faulkner Springs hospital Sunday morning at 8 o’clock following a month’s illness. He was 72. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the parlors of High Funeral Home. Elton wood, Dayton, and John W. High officiated and burial was in Mt. View cemetery. Born April 19, 1881 in Van Buren county, Mr. Chambers was a son of Allen Chambers and Artenesia Tosh Chambers and he was married to Miss Rebecca Ann Johnson, who preceded him in death January 25,
1949. Mr. Chambers held the franchise for the McMinnville-Nashville frieght service for some 18 years, operating Chambers Truck Company during that period. He sold the franchise in 1938 to R.D. McBroom of Woodbury and since that time had been retired from active participation in business. During his residence in McMinnville, Mr. Chambers was an active member of Central Church of Christ. He had made his home in Dayton for the past several years. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jewell Chambers Woodlee, Dayton; two grandchildren., Mrs. Carol Joyce Welch and Wayne Proce Woodlee, both of Dayton; a great-granddaughter, Becky Welch, Dayton; four brothers, Elijah, Elisha, Allen and Gaston Chambers, all of Dallas, Texas; a half brother. M.E. Chambers, Old Hickory, and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Cantrell, McMinnville, and Mrs. Jonah Hale, Spencer. High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.Southern Standard, McMinnville, TN. CHAMBERS, Cornelia (???? - 1953)
Aunt of McMinnville People Dies In Texas
Mrs. Cornelia Chambers, wife of Elijah Chambers and aunt of several McMinnville residents, died in Dallas, Texas, Thursday. She suffered a stroke of Paralysis the Tuesday previous and never regained consciousness. Funeral services and burial took place in Dallas Sunday. Mrs. Chambers, the former Miss Cornelia Cotton of Van Buren county, had resided in Texas for a number of years. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, two sons and a daughter. She is also survived by the following nieces and nephews in the McMinnville area. Circuit Court Clerk, J.A. Chambers, Mrs. Paul Phifer, Mrs. Marcus Biles, Mrs. John Bell, Mrs. Elza Denton and Mrs. Charles Sparkman. Mrs. E.F. Chambers of McMinnville is a sister-in -law. Mr. Chambers, Mr and Mrs. Phifer, L. Funeral services for Mattie Mai Chandler, 61, who died at her home on Route 1, Doyle Thursday, July 6, were conducted from the residence Saturday afternoon by John W. High. Mr. Cherry, Native of Rock Island, Succumbs
Word was received here Monday of the unexpected death in McGregor, Texas, of A.P Cherry, 76, native of Rock Island and a resident of Texas for a number of years. Funeral services and burial took place in Texas. Besides his wife and one son and a daughter, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. C.C. Couch, McMinnville, and a brother, C.L. Cherry, Rock Island. Another brother, T.B. Cherry, preceded him in death three years ago.Southern Standard Thursday February 5, 1953.

CHISAM, James M. (1873-1949)
Nashville Road Citizen Passes
James M. Chisam, 76, retired Nashville road Monday morning at 10:45 o'clock. He had been sick only a week. (This may not sound right but this is how it is written.) Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Bethany Church of Christ with burial in Mt. View cemetery. John W. High officiated. James Manuel Chisam was a native of White county, born January 29, 1873. He was a son of James Chisam and Sarah Anderson Chisam and was married to Miss Donnie Cotten , who survives. The deceased was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, Mr. Chisam is survived by four sons, L.J. Chisam, James H. Chisam and Silas Chisam all of Toledo, Ohio, and H.G. Chisam, Nashville; five daughters, Miss Sallie Chisam and Mrs. R.S. Elrod, Detroit, Mich. Miss Marjorie Chisam, Nashville, Miss Willie Taylor, Centertown, and Miss Willie Chisam, Huntsville, Ala. CHISAM, Sarah Abigal (1869-1949)
Mrs. Sarah Abigail Chisam, 80, died at the home of her nephew, T.O. Hudson, near Shrock's Store, Thursday morning at 8:45 o'clock. She had been in ill health for some three months. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Mt. Pisgah church. Allen Phy, minister of Central Church of Christ, officiated and burial was in the Mt.Pisgah cemetery. Mrs. Chisam was a native of White county, born August 15, 1869. She was a daughter of Benjamin Humphrey and Rachel Knowles Humphrey and was married to J. Polk Chisam, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Chisam was a member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by one sister Mrs. Wayman Hudson, of 15th district. High's were in charge of funeral arrangements.

Florida Wreck Claims Life Of Gene Christian
Word was received here Monday of an accident Saturday in Bradenton, Fla., which claimed the life of Eugene Christian, former resident of McMinnville and son of Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Christian of Bradenton. No details of the accident were given in the notification, however it is presumed that an automobile collision resulted in the death of the Florida Truck operator. Funeral services and burial took place in Bradenton yesterday. Mr. Christian, native of Georgia, resided here for several years prior to locating in Florida and he has visited here on numerous occasions since. He is a nephew of C.C. Myers and Mrs. Roy E. Mrs. Christain Dies Saturday
Mrs. Hassie Lee Christian, 67, wife of John Christian, retired 5th district farmer, died at her home near Smyrna Saturday morning at 9 o'clock. She had been ill for several months. Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at 11 o'clock at the Smyrna Church of Christ. John W. High officiated and burial was in the Smyrna cemetery. Mrs. Christian was a native of Warren county, born April 28, 1883. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Haskell
Christian and Lassiter Christian; four daughters, Mrs. Homer Perry, Mrs. Otis Spencer, Mrs. Walter Brady and Mrs. Wayne Ware; three sisters, Mrs. Oscar Boyd, Mrs. Livy Taylor and Mrs. Jake Curtis, all of McMinnville. Funeral Services For John Christian Held Saturday
John Chrisitian, 79, a retired Warren county farmer, died Thursday night at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Edna Spencer of McMinnville. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Smyrna Church of Christ with John W. High officiating. Burial was in the Smyrna cemetery. The son of James Chrisian and Anitta Martin was born in Warren county December 25, 1876 and married Hassie Curtis Spencer in 1899, who preceded him in death on February 24, this year. Survivors; two sons, Haskell Christian, Haynes City, Fla., and Laster Christian of McMinnville; four daughters, Mrs. O.H. Perry, Mrs. Edna Spencer, Mrs. Walter Brady and Mrs. Wayne Ware all of McMinnville; one brother, Jess Christian, Dunlap; three sisters, Mrs. France Bonner, Mrs. Alsie Jones and Mrs. Cora Panter all of McMinnville; twenty-four grand children and three great grandchildren.Southern Standard, McMinnville, TN. CHRISTIAN, Sara Taylor (1850 - 1953)
Mrs. Christain, 102 Years Old, Dies At Dunlap
Mrs. Sara Taylor Christian, probably Warren county's oldest native, died at the home of a son, Tom Christian, in Dunlap Thursday. She was 102 years old. Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at Smyrna Church of Christ. Silas F.Shaw, the minister, and J.R. Bailey, minister of Rockliff Church of Christ officiated and burial was in Smyrna Cemetery. Mrs. Christian, born September 27, 1850. Was a resident of Warren county sixty-four years. She was a daughter of Arthur and Nancy Vance Taylor and she was married to Samuel Chrisitian in 1871. He died March 12, 1914. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Christian moved to Dunlap to make her home with her son. She had been a member of the Church of Christ since early childhood. On the occasionof her 100th birthday, Mrs. Christian was the guest of honor at a birthday celebration held at her son's home with a large number of Warren county friends and relatives in attendance. While she had resided in Dunlap for several years, Mrs. Christian had returned to Warren county to visit on numerous occasions and she was well known throughout the county. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Harriet McCorkle, McMinnville; two sons, Tom Christian, Dunlap, and Robert Christian, Dallas, Texas; eleven grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren. CHRISTMAN, Clara Belle Busey (1905 - 1953)
Mrs. Christman Dies In Nashville
Mrs. Clara Belle Christman, 48, native of Hopkins county, Ky., died in a Nashville nursing home Thursday afternoon at 4:10 o’clock, following an illness of a year. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock at Charles Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Craft of Nashville officiated and burial was in Mt. View cemetery. Born March 5, 1905, Mrs. Christman was a daughter of G.W. Busey and Katherine Rickard Busey and she was married March 25, 1925 to E.J. Christman, a Nashville railroad employee. He survives. A resident of Nashville most of her life, Mrs. Christman moved here in 1947. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, James E. Christman, Daylight; her father; one brother, Willis B. Busey, and a sister, Mrs. Lena Sanderson, both of McMinnville.
