Harvey Cagle Dies At Clinic
H.M. (Harvey) Cagle, resident of Hebron community, died at Medical Clinic about noon Wednesday. He had been admitted to the hospital earlier in the day and had been in ill health for some time. Rites Held For H.M. Cagle, 60

Funeral services for H. M. (Harvey) Cagle, who died Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock after an illness of two years, were held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Hebron Church of Christ. J.R. Bailey, minister of Rockliff Church of Christ, officiated and burial was in Hebron cemetery. Mr. Cagle, 60, died at Medical Clinic where he had been admitted earlier in the day for treatment of a heart ailment. A native of Warren county, Mr. Cagle was born June 12, 1892. He was a son of Preston Cagle and Sarah Nunley Cagle and he was married to Miss Lemma Hobbs December 15, 1910. She survives. Mr. Cagle was a member of Hebron Church of Christ and had long been identified with gospel singing in the Warren county area as a director of numerous singing schools. Besides his wife, he is survived by five sons, Wayman and Harvey Cagle, Jr., McMinnville; Robert and Theodore Cagle, Detroit, Mich., and Brown Cagle, Gary, Ind. Miss Campbell's Rites Held At Ivy Bluff
Miss Collie Joanne Campbell, 67, died at the home of her brother, H.L. Campbell in the first district Tuesday evening at 11:30 o'clock. Funeral services were conducted and burial was in the church cemetery. Miss Campbell, Cannon county native, was born July 5, 1882. She was a daughter of John Campbell and Mary Elizabeth Taylor Campbell, and was a member of the Church of Christ. The deceased was an aunt of Rayford Davis, member of the Standard Staff. CAMPBELL, Elliott Andrew (1868-1947)
Elleta Ander Campbell, 79-year-old resident of the county, died suddenly at the home of a daughter in the sixth district of Coffee county Tuesday evening at 10 o'clock. Funeral services will be conducted today (Friday) at 11 o'clock in the morning at the Mt. Zion Methodist Church with John W. High officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Campbell was born in Grundy county, May 16, 1868 and was a son of Bydid Campbell and Martha Myers Campbell. His wife Mrs. Laura Campbell preceded him in death several years ago. Survivors include eight children, two of whom, Roy Campbell and Mrs. Charlie Cagle, reside in McMinnville. Also a sister, Mrs. John Fults, who resides at Morrison. Arrangements were by High Funeral Home.

CAMPBELL, John D. (1872-1945)
John D. Campbell Called By Death
The final chapter of a beautiful life came to a sad ending Thursday afternoon at 1:15 o'clock when death claimed for it's harvest the life of John D. Campbell of McMinnville Route 1. He was born February 13, 1872, died January 18, 1945; was married to Annie King. To this union was born five children, one of whom had gone on before him. He joined the Sycamore Baptist Church at an early age and lived a Christian life. Mr. Campbell is survived by four children; W.S. Campbell, Odis Dewey Campbell, Mrs. G.F. Certain, all of McMinnville and Mrs. John Hale of Nashville; one brother, Bill Campbell of McMinnville; one sister, Mrs. Isaac Tumbling of Murfreesboro and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral was held Friday afternoon 2 o'clock at the Oakland C. P. Church by the Rev. Smothers of Magness Memorial Baptist Church and burial was at Liberty Cemetery. Mr. Campbell will be missed by his family and friends but it is sweet to know he is not dead but sleeping.

Charles Cantrell, Viola Native, Is Death Victim
Charles Watkins Cantrell, 48, veteran of World War II and Viola native, died February 26 in a Los Angeles, Calif., hospital after an illness of several months. The body was returned to Cowan where funeral services were held March 8, at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ky Curry officiating. Burial was in Montgomery cemetery. Mr. Cantrell was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Watkins Cantrell. He lived in California since his discharge from the Army a few years ago. He is survived by one son, James Cantrell, now serving with the U.S. Army. McMinnville resident and DeKalb County native Clara Mae Cantrell, 90, died January 19th at NHC Healthcare after an extended illness. A homemaker and a member of Central Church of Christ, she was the daughter of John Milton and Mattie Neal Hodges; and was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Cantrell in 1975; a son, J.L. Cantrell; grandson, Mark Womack and brothers, Donald, Lester and Austin Hodges. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Arsey Womack and Frances and Joe Garrison, all of McMinnville, grandchildren, Debbie and Mark Haley, Randy and Lisa Garrison, all of McMinnville, Steve and Peggy Womack of Brentwood, Phillip and Terry Womack of Athens and Mike and Nancy Garrison of Viola; two sisters, Ina Lee Embry and Bessie Lou Brock, both of McMinnville, niece Kay Elliot of Knoxville and 11 great-grandchildren. CANTRELL, Edgar Lloyd (1893 -1965)
Edgar Lloyd Cantrell, 72, died unexpectedly at 9:30 p. m. Monday at the family residence on West Sparta St. Death was the result of a heart attack. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at High Chapel, with Rufe Higgins officiating and interment was in Mt. View Cemetery. Born October 29, 1893, he was a native of Van Buren County and the son of Fred Cantrell and Cleo Head Cantrell. He was first married to Ova Cantrell who survives. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Besides his widow, he is survived by one son, Edgar Cantrell of Nashville; one daughter, Mrs. Edith Herriman of McMinnville and one brother, Rudy Cantrell of Shelbyville. Nashville resident and Warren County native Edgar T. Cantrell, 74, died unexpectedly January 18, at his home. A pattern engineer at Genesco, he was the son of Edgar Lloyd and Nannie Cantrell. He is survived by his wife, Phairzetta Hayes Cantrell; two daughters, Sandra Cantrell of Roake Island, North Carolina and Kimberly Haynes of Ft. Riley, Kansas; one son, Michael Cantrell of Davenport, Iowa; one sister; Edith Herriman of McMinnville; and three grandchildren. George Lawrence Cantrell, 70, died at his home in the twelfth district near Dibrell, Monday. The funeral was held from the Oak Grove Church at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Burial was in the Woods Cemetery. Born in DeKalb County, September 29, 1872, he was a son of the late Isaac D. Cantrell and Elizabeth Griffith Cantrell. Green Hill resident and Warren County native Herman Cantrell Jr., 86, died unexpectedly Jan. 16 at his home. A farmer and nurseryman and a member of Bluff Springs Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Donnie Herman and Dixie Elizabeth Reeder Cantrell and was preceded in death by one sister, Bessie Lou Roller. He is survived by his wife, Irene Redmon Cantrell; one son and daughter-in-law, Eddie Glenn and Dean Cantrell of Green Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Billie Dean and George Christian of Green Hill; two sisters, Eula Estep and Ruby Joines, both of McMinnville; two brothers, W.T. (Bill) Cantrell of Green Hill and Haskel Cantrell of Smithville; four grandchildren and nine great-grand-children. Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Cantrell, 71, died at the home of a son in Oak Ridge Monday morning at 11:45 o'clock. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Cantrell, 71, who died Monday, June 23, at Oak Ridge, were conducted Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the New Bildad Baptist Church . Rev. H. L. Goldson of Brush Creek officiated and burial was in the New Bildad cemetery. Mrs. Cantrell was a native of DeKalb county, born March 8, 1881. She was a daughter of Perry Green Byars and Senith Potter Byars and she was married to W.P. Cantrell July 20, 1913. He survives. Mrs. Cantrell was a member of the Primitive Baptist church. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Thomas Rye Cantrell, Oak Ridge; one daughter, Mrs. Dallas J. Hennessee, Detroit, Mich..; two brothers, P.G. CANTRELL, R. S. (1895 - 1953)
R.S. Cantrell, Former Sheriff, Dies Of Illness
R.S. (Buck) Cantrell, two times Sheriff of Warren county and a leader in veterans affairs here for a number of years, died at his home on Yager Road Sunday morning at 7:30 o'clock. He had been ill eleven months and was 58 years of age. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Central Church of Christ, Joe D.Gray, minister of Bybees' Branch Church of Christ, officiating and burial was in Mt. View cemetery. The body lay in state at the church from 11 a.m. Monday until the hour of service. Pallbearers were Sheriff Eldridge Youngblood, who succeeded Mr. Cantrell in the county's top law enforcement office; Roy Hardcastle, Clyde Winters, W. Ray Roberts, W. E. Smith and Eugene Miller. Born at Smithville, January 1, 1895, Mr. Cantrell was a son of Jasper Cantrell and he was married in 1920 to Miss Harrietta Turner of DeKalb county. she died January 26, 1950. The ex-sheriff came to McMinnville in 1934 from Nashville where he had been employed as an electrician by the old Nashville Railway & Light Company and the Tennessee Electric Power Company. From 1934 to 1948 he was a line foreman with McMinnville Electric System and in 1948 was elected to his first term as Warren county sheriff. Mr. Cantrell was reelected in 1950 and at the conclusion of his second term retired from public office. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Cantrell took an active interest in veterans affairs here since his residence in McMinnville. He was a member of both the American Legion and VFW posts and in 1944 served as commander of the Local Legion organization. He was also affiliated with Nashville Voiture 702 of the Legion's 40 et 8 society. During World War II, Mr. Cantrell was active in Tennessee State Guard and served as an officer of the McMinnville company and in later years he was one of the leaders in the movement to secure a National Guard company for this city. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Clinton L. Cantrell and Carmon Cantrell, McMinnville; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Smith, Nashville; one brother, Shelley Cantrell, Huntsville, Ala.; two sisters Mrs. Norman Walker, Gadsden, Ala., and Miss Effie Cantrell, Huntsville; a half-sister Mrs. Sarah Jones, Smartt. Theo Cantrell, brother of the late Dr. Q.C. Cantrell of McMinnville, died at the home of a sister, Mrs. Jim Freeman, in the 16th district Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, following an illness of several months. He was 76. Funeral services were conducted Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the chapel of Bybees Branch Church of Christ, and John W. High officiated and burial was in Woods cemetery. A native of DeKalb county, Mr. Cantrell was born November 1875. His parents were John M. Cantrell and Paralee Davis Cantrell and he was married in 1904 to Miss Alice Allen, who survives. Mr. Cantrell was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Freeman, and Mrs. Millie Green, Nashville. OBITUARY - Theo Cantrell, brother of the late Dr. Q. C. Cantrell of McMinnville, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Jim Freeman, on Route 4, Wednesday afternoon, April 16, at 3 p.m., following an illness of several months. He was born in November 1875, in Dekalb county, the son of the late John M. and Paralee Davis Cantrell, and was married to Miss Alice Allen in December 1904, who survives. Mr. Cantrell was engaged in the nursery business for a good many years and retired a few years ago on account of ill health. He was a man of sterling character and true devotion to his friends. He was a member of New Bildad Baptist Church. Besides his wife he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Jim Freeman of McMinnville and Mrs. Millie Green of Nashville, one sister, Mrs. Lon Talley, died in March, 1952. Funeral services were conducted by W.H. Lewis and Tom Burkett of Oak Ridge, Tenn., at High Funeral Home, with prayer services at Woods cemetery near Oak Grove, conducted by John W. High.

Toy Cantrell Dies In Hospital Here After Illness
Toy Cantrell, retired telephone linesman, died at a local hospital Tuesday at 5 p.m. following an illness of 15 months. He was 56 years of age. Funeral rites were conducted at the Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church Thursday at 11 a.m. Rev. Bill Mid____, pastor officiated., and burial was in the Liberty Cemetery. Toy (_____) Cantrell was born in DeKalb County on June 20, 1900, and was a son of the late Sam and Malissa Cantrell. He was married to the former Miss. Virginia Riggs, who survives. Mr. Cantrell was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. For many years, Mr. Cantrell worked as a telephone linesman for Southern Continental Telephone Co. being assigned to the local office at a major portion of the time. He retired about two years ago due to ill health. Survivors are his wife, Virginia Riggs Cantrell, 113 East River Drive, McMinnville; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Cantrell Phillips, Cowan, Tenn.; a brother Oscar Cantrell, McMinnville, and a sister, Mrs. Nova Hartis, Seaside, California. Mrs. Julia Etta Capshaw, 64, wife of J.C. Capshaw, died at her home, 106 East End Drive, Sunday morning at 4 o'clock. She had been ill eight months. Funeral services were hels Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the chapel of High Funeral Home. Rev. H. Curtis Erwin, Pastor of Magness Memorial Baptist church officiated and burial was in Mt. View cemetery. A native of DeKalb county, Mrs. Capshaw was born January 8, 1889. She was a daughter of Ozias Denton Cantrell and Dona Turner Cantrell and she was married to Mr. Capshaw, a retired McMinnville carpenter and brick mason, August 21, 1910. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to her husband, are five sons, Wayman Denton Capshaw, Carlesle, Penn., J. B. Capshaw, McMinnville, Alford A. Capshaw, Beaverton, Oregon, Albert L. Capshaw, Rock Island, and Eugene Capshaw, Long Island, N.Y.; one daughter, Mrs. Lorene Warner, Lexington, Ky.; a half brother, Wilson Cantrell, Smithville, and three sisters, Mrs. Pearlie Harris and Mrs. Lula Page, Smithville, and Willie Roberts, Madisonville, Ky. Rites Held Monday For Willie Etta Carr, 38
Funeral services for Willie Etter Carr. Colored resident of the third district, were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Martin's Charge on Sparta road. Ben M. Bates, Church of Christ minister, and burial was in Martin's Charge cemetery. The colored woman died at her home Sunday morning at 2 o'clock, following an illness of a year. She was 38 years of age. Born in Warren county, December 6, 1915 the deceased was a daughter of John Lusk and Missie Bartley Lusk and she was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband Jesse Carr; four sons, Clarence E., Jesse Ray, Carl and Morris Carr; four daughter. Lonnie Mae, Dora, Bell, Shirley and Johnie Sue Carr all of Warren.

CARTER, Wallace Raymond (1905 - 1977)
Wallace Raymond Carter, 72-year-old resident of Walling, succumbed to a six-day illness in Warren General Hospital at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. A native of Texas and member of the Baptist Church, he was a retired electrician from Chrysler Motors, Detroit. He was married to the former Lillie Mae Brock, who preceded him in death Nov. 21, 1965, and was a son of the late James Thomas and Hallie Wallace Carter. Survivors include two daughters and a sister, Mrs. Lawson Rhea and Mrs. Reed Poss, both of McMinnville, and Mrs. James Hagewood, of Walling, as well as five grandchildren. Brothers Charles Clark and John W. High will officiate at last rites scheduled in High's Chapel at 11 a.m. Thursday, with interment to follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in White County. CASEY, William Donald (circa 1926 - 1952)
Rites Held For Cpl. Don Casey, Korea Casualty
Funeral rites for Cpl William Donald Casey, 26, Warren county soldier who was killed when hit by a shrapnel blast while fighting with the 25th Infantry Division in Korea on August 20, were held Wednesday, December 26, at 1:30 p.m., in the Shady Grove Baptist church in Coffee county. Rev. Rowland Whitlock officiated and burial was in the Shady Grove cemetery.
Cpl. Casey's remains were returned here for burial Sunday,
December 24, with his brother, Pfc Arland Casey, who had been on duty with the army in Germany, serving as military escort. Pfc. Casey was flown home by the Defense Department in order that he might serve as escort for the body of his late brother.
The Warren county soldier, who was inducted into the army on September 29. 1950 in the first SelectiveService call to leave the county following the outbreak of hostilities in Korea, was a son of J.B. and Mary Neal Harrison Casey.
He was born at Shady Grove and was one of four brothers to serve in the military forces. Attending elementary school at Shady Grove, Cpl. Casey was graduated from Morrison high school and at the time of his induction into the service, he was an employee of General Shoe. Receiving his basic training at Camp Atterbury, Ind., Cpl. Casey was assigned to overseas duty in Company B of the 27th Infantry Regiment in the vicinity of the 38the parallel when he met his death.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by four brothers, Winfred Casey, World War II veteran, McMinnville; S/Sgt. Glenn E. Casey, U. S. Army, Ft. Bragg, N.C., Pfc Arland Casey, U.S. Army, Germany, and J.B. Casey, Shady Grove. Also his grandmother, Mrs. Rosa Harrison, who makes her home with the deceased soldier's parents.
