Here is the bigger picture. Between Sparta and McMinnville the highway is US 70S. Rock Island and the Great Falls Dam are about midway between the two towns, but a bit closer to McMinnville. See map below for exact location of the Great Falls Dam.

| The
red circle marks the spot of the Great Falls Dam. The red line is
US 70S highway prior to its re-routing. The new highway is just to
the east of the red line depicting US 70S as seen here.
The black lines are county roads. The blue indicates rivers, streams or creeks. The green is the county line. As mentioned earlier the Caney Fork River is the dividing line between Warren and White counties; and Van Buren and White counties. Rocky River divides Van Buren and Warren counties. Collins River is the river from the west. Rocky River is the one from the south. The Caney Fork comes in from the east. Where the Caney Fork and Rocky rivers meet is where the geographical Rock Island is. The Rock Island post office is located where the middle black line indicating a road meets the red line, old US 70S and now #136. |

| Map 1 in the Table of Contents gives the names of the communities in the Caney Fork area. Some of the places referred to in the book can be located from the map at that site. | ||
| At this time, June 1999, the old bridge on old US 70S which crosses the Caney Fork between Warren and White counties has been torn down and a new bridge is under construction. This writer would like to hear from all the people out there who had the distinction of diving off of that river bridge into the Caney Fork. Or for that matter is there anyone out there who dived off the railroad bridge which runs parallel to the highway bridge. Then, there is the old bridge down by the dam which has been replaced also. By the way, since we have gotten completely off history and genealogy, is there anyone around who also plunged off of it into the Collins River? And is anyone around who remembers when Robert Swah, alledgedly, had his pilot's license revoked for, alledgedly, flying under the bridge down by the dam in an airplane? Let us hear from some of you all. | ||
