Maj. C. J. McKinney Rogersville, Hawkins Co. Dr. Sir, Enclosed find papers, with some blanks left unfilled, for the recovery of Maj. Tho. P. Branch and Gen. Ransom from the States of Virginia and North Carolina-But do not recollect which State each refugee now is in. You will please cause the blanks to be properly filled for Branch & Ransom. It will be necessary to have two copies of the indictment one for each State. I therefore send a blank certificate to authenticate the signature of the Clerk, which you will attach in the same manner I have done to this one. Also fill blank for name of agent.
