My ggg grandparents were Alexander Stinson Rogers & Delinda Wallis/Wallace. They married in Madison Co TN, ca. 1828. They moved to Gasconade & Maries Cos. of MO after 1830. Alexander was apparently well educated. He wrote a poem about the Civil War. (I have a copy.) He was a judge in Osage Co MO in the 1840s. He bought and sold real estate and owned the first store in Belle, Maries Co, MO. Also married in Madison Co, was Alexander's sister, Elizabeth Rogers who m. Delinda's brother, Richard Wallace. The Wallace siblings were the children of Francis Wallace, whose estate settlement was filed in Gasconade Co MO. Per family history, there was Native American heritage in one or both of these families. Any help appreciated.

The outlaw "Cherokee Bill" was Crawford GOLDSBY. We believe his mother Ellen BECK, was my Great Grandmother. Ellen was born in 1859 in Delaware District, Cherokee Nation-died in 1932. She is described as mixed Black, white and Cherokee. Ellen was the daughter of Luge BECK and Tempy BECK, but raised by a Lucinda BECK - all were freed slaves of a Jeffrey BECK. Ellen married George GOLDSBY before 1887.Their children were Georgia, Crawford, Clarence and Luther GOLDSBY. Crawford GOLDSBY was sentenced to death by Judge Parker-hung on 17 Mar 1896 in Ft. Smith, AR. When Crawford was 15yrs, Ellen married William LYNCH (Waynesville, Ohio) in Kansas City. I'm trying to trace Ellen and William LYNCH after Crawford's hanging. My Grandmother was a terrific source of disinformation and once dropped names such as Jeff HENDERSEN, Fonce LAFLORE, Ellen Lenora LYNCH, Walter Watson LYNCH and SISTER MARY MARTHA from a convent in Louisville, KY. Hello. I have one more query *sorry for so many*. I mentioned before that I was looking for the line of Hunters in Williamson Co., TN. I have a bit more information. My granfather, Tommy Hunter, was born on the Benny HUNTER farm, Route 6, Hillsboro, Williamson Co., TN. His father, my great-granfather, Tom Hunter (b.late 1870s), married Ollan *Orlean* COWENS (b.late 1880s), on the same farm, although Ollan was from a near-by farm. I have been told the Hunter family of Benny Hunter's Farm in Hillsboro no longer owns the land. I would like to trace Tom Hunter's family, and Ollan's family. There was another larger farm not too far away in Mt. Pleasant, Maury Co., TN, where there were also two HUNTERS (James and Jones Hunter) who owned farms, and I am wondering if Benny and these two men may have possiby been related, and if they were related to my family. Thanks, in advance, for any info you'd be willing to share. :o)

I am searching for information about my fathers birth and his family. He was born Edward Clive POTTER, Feb. 16, 1909 in or around Nashville, TN. His father, Elmer POTTER, was an English immigrant, and his mother was of mixed ancestry, Black American and Native American. Her name was Baltzell POTTER. We don't know her maiden name or when or where she was born, except that it was probably Tennessee. My father had a brother, Bubba, a sister, Rosalind Potter both younger than he. They later moved to Chicago in their late teen years. My father moved to Los Angeles in the 50's, and resided there until his death in 1984. Any clues on where to search, or how, would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am looking for information about Ezekiel Norris, founder of Lincoln County, of which Fayetteville is the seat. Apparently there is some dispute in the literature over whether he was African American or Euro American. Our family's most ancient Bible has him listed as African American, the great grandfather of my grandmother. Her father was Ishan Norris. I am interested in any information about African American Norris'. Apparently the Euro-American Norris family fought on the side of the Confederacy in the Civil War. Family oral history has it that Ezekiel Norris' father (slave owner), slept with (or perhaps raped), an African American woman, Minerva, whom he owned. Apparently upon his death, he freed her and her children. If you have any information about the NORRIS family line, please let me know.

I understand that my great grandfather left his plantation and fortune to his slaves when Lincoln signed for their freedom. I can think of no reason for this other than that he had children there. I can see some African American features in my family tree. I would truely like to know if this is a fact, or an exageration. Has anyone researched this? Where did the African Americans in Tennessee first take on the surname of "Cochran"?

My great-great grand parents were Van & Hester Dyson, they were slaves oringinally purchased in VA. The family lived in Shelby Co. Tenn. Their children were Dan (1850-1929), Jerry, Johnny, Wherry, Lawson, & Beatrice. I know personally quite a few of the descendants of great grandpa Dan, but we have lost all contact with any of the descendants of his siblings. It would be wonderful to reunite our family. I am the daughter of great-grandpa Dan's son, Hayes' daughter Donna.

George was a slave of a Confederate Soldier by the last name of Lee who left his wife to fight in the Civil War and asked George to take care of her. If you have any information, please let me know.
