KINNEYI am attempting to trace the African American line of Fred and Julia Kinney. It is thought that one of them might be part or all American Indian-possibly Cherokee. Fred was born in Virginia and but was known to be in Texas in 1870. Julia was born in Texas but her mother was born in Tenn. Her father was born in Virginia. One story is that Fred married the dtr of an Indian chief--possibly Julia. Their oldest living grandson only remembers them living on an Indian reservation somewhere near Huntsville Texas. Julia was born on March 1844. I know this information is sketchy so any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you--Sharon James

HORNBEAK, HIGGSI am looking for information on Squire Hornbeak who was born in Weakley County in 1836, married Barbara Higgs of NC, and had twelve (12) children who also lived and grew up in Weakley County before the entire family moved to Honey Grove, Texas between the year(s) 1880-1890. The Squire Hornbeak family than migrated to Burneyville, Oklahoma, I. T., now the state of Oklahoma, where the family settled permanently. Squire Hornbeak was a slave, and may have been called Squire because of his duties as a manservant, or, perhaps that was his actual, given name. Perhaps, someone knows of the existence of Property records of the HORNBEAK(S) in Weakley County during the previously mentioned time period. I suppose I should be writing to the Weakley County Court House for this information. I thank you for any help you may be able to give me. Regards, Joyce E. Hornbeak
