Will recorded in Bibb Co. Ala. in Admr. Rec. H (1855-1857), p. 782
The State of Alabama, Bibb County, In the name of the Benevolent Father of
all, I,
Joseph A. Blakey of the County of Bibb and State of Alabama, do make and
publish this my last will and testament.

Item 1st.  I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth C. Nichols one negro
girl
named Amanda, worth Two hundred and fifty Dollars, also one negro man named
Burwell worth eight Hundred Dollars, said slaves having been heretofore
delivered to said Elizabeth C. Nichols.  It is therefore my will and intention
that
she have said slaves to her sole use forever.  And also one Hundred Dollars
which I have heretofore given her in money.

Item 2nd.  I give and bequeath to my Daughter Nancy B. Wood one negro girl
named Lucinda worth Two hundred and fifty Dollars, also one negro girl named
Jane worth six hundred Dollars, said slaves having heretofore been given and
delivered to said Nancy B. Wood, it is my will and intention that they remain
hers
to her sole use forever.  And also Two Hundred and fifty Dollars in money
heretofore given to her by me.

Item 3rd.  I give and beqeath to my son George W. Blakey one negro boy named
Charles worth Three Hundred and fifty Dollars, said slave having been
heretofore
given and delivered to said George W. Blakey, it is my will and intention that
said slave remain his forever and also Seven Hundred and fifty Dollars
heretofore given to him by me.

Item 4th.  I give and bequeath to my daughter Fanny O. Crow Three slaves towit
Lucy and her two children, named Clary and Mary, worth Seven hundred and
Seventy dollars, said slaves having been heretofore given and delivered by me
to said Fanny O. Crow, it is my will and intention that the said three slaves
together will all the increase that they may have since they were delivered to
her, they are all to be her separate property to her sole use and to the
Lawful
heirs of her body, and also Three Hundred and thirty Dollars in money
heretofore
given to her by Theodorick S. Blakey, one negro boy named Jesse worth Eight
Hundred Dollars, said slave having been heretofore given by me to said
Theodorick S. Blakey, it is my will and intention that said slave be and
remain
the property of him forever given by me to him.

Item 6th.  I give and beqeath to my son Joseph Blakey one negro boy named
Simon worth five hundred and fifty Dollars and one negro girl named Vina worth
Two hundred and fifty Dollars, said slaves having been heretofore given and
delivered to said Joseph Blakey.  It is my will and intention that they remain
his
forever and also Three Hundred Dollars in money.

Item 7th.  I give and bequeath to my daughter Agnes one negro girl named Jane,
also one negro boy named Christopher and also one negro girl named Selia.

Item 8th.  I given and bequeath to my daughter Polly Ann, one negro boy named
Henry, one negro girl named Caroline and one negro named Ann.

Item 9th.  I give and bequeath to my Beloved wife Martha Blakey four slaves
named William, Westley, Thomas and Frankey, also all the stock on hand, at my
death, including Horses, mules, oxen, cattle, sheep, and hogs, and all the
other
personal property not disposed of at my death.  And I also give and bequeath
to
my said wife all my Lands situated in the County of Bibb and State of Alabama,
the above described personal property and real estate bequeathed to my wife
are all hereby given to her only during her natural life and after her death
are to
vest immdeiately in my two children, Agnes Blakey and Polly Anne Blakey.

Item 10th.  I also give and bequeath to my said daughters Agnes Blakey and
Polly Ann Blakey all the ready money that may be on hand at my death after
paying all my just debts.

Item 11th.  I hereby nominate and constitute Henley G. Snead and George W.
Blakey
my executors of this my last will and testament.
Given under my hand and seal this 28 day of March A.D. 1834.

Martha Blakey filed petition to probate the will of Joseph A. Blakey dec'd,
which was contested by Fanny Oldham Crow and her husband Elijah Palmer Crow
(married in Perry Co. 1835, Vol. 241, page 16), George W. Blakey, Theodoric S.
Blakey, Joseph Blakey, Eliza C. Nichols (m. 1844) and husband Willis Nichols,
Nancy B. Wood and husband William Wood. and William M. Wilson as guardian ad
litem for Agnes and Polly, who are minors and children of said Joseph A.
Blakey. The will is dated 28th of Nov. 1854 and John E. Snead, a witness has
departed this life. (The will was upheld and costs of the contest charged to
the contestants.) 28 July 1858.
