BURLISON/BURLESON: According to family lore,
my Burlison relations(Ripley Co., MO) came from Tipton Co. They show
up in MO between 1815and 1850, with a number of them being born in
Tennessee between theyears 1800-1840. I'm missing information on one
generation. I believethe name to be Joseph Burlison, with at least a
son William (b c1840) and daughter Elizabeth (b c 1835), all born in
TN. Supposedlysome of the Burlisons came from around Burlison town in
Tipton, soI'm hoping that these folks did also. Does anyone have info
on theBurlisons in Tipton Co. that they would be willing to share?
Also,does anyone know how Burlison town came into being, and who its
namedafter (if anyone in particular)? Any help would be
greatlyappreciated.

I am interested in the
family of Samuel and Susan Miller Brown. Hewas a preacher in the
Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and helda modest amount of
land. Samuel died while a resident of Tipton Co.in the late 1820's.
His son, Isaac Newton Brown, went on to fame inthe Confederate State
Navy. Specifics on Isaac and/or family wouldbe appreciated. I have
been in Covington and around the county alittle.

BASS, BENJAMIN J. married SMITH, FRANCES in
Davidson Co. in 1810. Hemoved to Tipton Co. and bought land in 1835
from Wm E. Elmore. In1836 he bought more land from George
Wilson. In 1838 he sold all ofthat land to John Y. Taylor. I cannot
locate him in 1840. If anyonehas access to cemetery records or has

My mother was Minne Catherine CHAPMAN, born in Alamo Jan 3 1912.She
graduated from Byers Hall High School in Covington in 1929. Her
parents, Benjamin and Minnie CHAPMAN lived next door, in Covington,
to a Wanda BOYD and her son Dr James BOYD. His former wife was Mary
Catherine GIVINS (or GIVENS), who later married a SPURRIER in SC,
and the last heard from was a secretary at the college, High Point
NC.She was my mother's best friend for many years. ANYONE knowing
these families, please let me know. I would like to find Ms Spurrier
and/or her sons, and want to know where they all lived in Covington.

Evalena POOLE died in a fire in Covington, Tipton
Co.,TN in 1924. Hermaiden name was SMITHSON and she had an uncle named M.A.
YORK.Herhusband's name was James R. POOLE
and he died in Covington in 1915.Family history says she was of Native
American decent. In the 1910census, she reports that her family is from
Alabama and Tennessee.Can anyone help me in finding her parents and tribe?

10 Jul 1840 Tipton Co., TN. He married Anna MACAY 12 Apr 1822 Rowan Co.,
NC. Their children were: Spruce Macay, Daniel F., Alexander, Elizabeth
Ann, Augustus and Benjamin. Only Alexander and Daniel remained in Tipton
County, others moved to Calhoun Co., AR. Anna Macay had been previously
