Services will be held for John GASSON of Covington on Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home Inc. Mr. GASSON died in Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton after a short illness. Rev. Dave COCHRAN and Rev. Mickey BASHAM will officate the services with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Born in Covington, he was the son of George W. and Myrtle Jo HENSLEY GASSON. He was a retired gin constructor and a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. He leaves his widow, Annie Lou HOPKINS GLASSON; three sons, John H. GASSON of Houston, Tx., Earl Wayne GASSON of Clinton, Ms., and Robert D. GASSON of Gilbert, Az.; two daughters, June G. WHITLEY of Covington and Jo Ann VICK of Huntsville, Al.; one sister Ruby MATHIS of Covington; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
