Col. George Brock Sale

My great grandfather fought at Fort Pillow, among other engagements of the Civil War. He was wounded twice at Corinth Miss, during the battle at Brice's Cross Roads , being hit in the leg, this is why he had a walking cane.

Col.George Brock Sale of the 7th TN Calvary started off as Gen. Forrest's flag bearer at the age of sixteen. When he joined, all he had was a horse and his gun. He and his brother both were involved in the Memphis raid when they rode through the Peabody Hotel. George also served as Gen. Forrest's scout at one time.

George Brock Sale was also known for writting poetry, and owned a small store in the city of Covington, Tenn. at one time.
