In the name of God Amen:
I West Edwards of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee being weak in body but of sound mind and perfect mind and memory do make ordain and publish the following to wit.
First
I leave to my wife Elizabeth Edwards during her life or widowhood forty acres of land in the County and State aforesaid including the planation whereon the widow (or the widower?) Trail formerly lived, and that the house _? repaired for her to live in - Also, I leave to my said wife two negroes Cherry & Dude during her life or widowhood, or until her children Sally Edwards and Polly Ann Whitfield Edwards _? of lawful age and then for the whole of my estate to be equally divided between (part of this sentence is unreadable on my copy) . . . wit Thomas Fitshugh Edwards, John Jones Edwards, Nancy West Edwards, Drury Edwards, Miles Edwards, Elizabeth Fitshugh Edwards, Sally Edwards and Polly Ann Whitfield Edwards.

Secondly
my wife and desire is that all my land lying in the County and State aforesaid be equally divided between my four sons, Thomas Fitshugh Edwards, John Jones, Drury, & Miles Edwards to them and their heirs forever - _? to my wife the forty acres aforesaid - I further _? to my said wife one cow and calf and the _? choice of my horses, during her life or widowhood.

Lastly
I nominate and appoint my wife Elizabeth Edwards, my two sons Thomas Fitshugh Edwards and John Jones Edwards Executors to execute this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I the said West Edwards _? hereunto set my hand and seal, this 5 day of February 1815.

This was the written last will and testament of West Edwards dec'd, exhibited and duly proved in open court by the oath of Thomas Price one of the subscribing witnesses _? ordained to be recorded.
