In the name of God Amen. I William Cowden of Sumner County being of sound and perfect memory thanks be given Almighty God for it, I do make and ordain this my last will and Testament, in manner and form following. In _____ send my soul to God who gave it, hoping through the merits of Thy Savior, Jesus Christ, to receive pardon and forgiveness for all my sins - My body I desire it may be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter: I have disposed of my estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with in this World in the following manner and form, viz Item I give and bequeath the whole of my estate both real and personal to my beloved wife Lucy Cowden during her natural life and at her decease to dispose of all the personal estate at her direction. Item I give and bequeath my land whereon I now live to my daughter Susey Simpson after my Wife's decease. Item I give and bequeath to my son James Cowden no more than he hath already received. Item I give and bequeath to my son William Cowden no more than he hath already received. Item I give and bequeath to my son Josiah Cowden no more than he hath already received. Item I do ordain constitute and appoint James Cowden and Robert Simpson my whole and sole executors of this my last will and Testament. In witness hereof I the said William Cowden have to this my last will and Testament set my hand and seal this 11th day of November 1811.
