In the name of God Amen.
I, William B. Joyner of the County of Sumner & State of Tennessee, Being of sound mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this fail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament:

That is to say first I hereby give to my son William S. Joyner all the land together with the dwellings and appurtances situated thereon, lying between the Nashville and Kentucky pike and the creek, supposed to be five acres more or less, with the exception of the Grave Yard and a road Leading thereto. The said Grave Yard I desire to remain in the family as a Burial place.

It is my will and desire that in consideration of my daughter Artelia Chilton and family, having Lived upon my farm during the years from Eighteen hundred and seventy five to Eighteen hundred and Eighty and having paid me but little rent for the same, and believing that the rents of said farm for the above named five years are equal to one full share of my estate I desire the said Artelia Chilton and family to be released from any debt for said rent and that this shall be their full share of my estate.

And furthermore any accounts or debts [pg. 407] of what ever character said Artelia or husband and family shall have against my estate for Board, or work done on said farm shall not be allowed from the fact that the actual damages to said farm during the five years above named more then compensate them for any bills they may have against my estate.

It is my will and desire that all the land on the west side of the creek, supposed to be one hundred acres more or less shall be sold as soon after my death as my executors shall think proper and the proceeds of said (word SAID has ink spot?) sale to be equally divided between Jessie F. Joyner and Susan E. Myers and my two Grand Children, to Wit; William Vess and sister Fannie Reasoner, said two children representing their mother's one third Interest.

It is further my Will and desire that all my lawful debts that I may owe at my death together with my funeral expenses shall be paid out of the proceeds of said land sale.

It is my desire that my son-in-law B. F. Myers and my son Jessie F. Joyner shall be my executors and I hereby appoint them as such, with full power to carry out this my last Will and Testament, and I further desire that the said executors shall not be required to give bond for the faithful performance of their duties. And neather [sic] shall they be allowed compensation for their services as executors. But it is my desire that they shall [pg. 408] be allowed all the expenses they may incure in settling up my estate.
This March 23rd. 1880.
