Gallatin Tenn. Nov. 2nd 1889.
I, Reuben Carr being unsound in body but of sound mind and memory do hereby declare and ordain this to be my last will and testament viz:

Item 1st. I give to my wife Maria Carr all of personal property absolutely.

Item 2nd. I give to my wife Maria for and during her natural life all my real estate and at her death said real estate shall be the property of Willie Vertrees the son of Peter Vertrees Col. to have and hold the same forever.

Item 3rd. In consideration of the above gift to Willie Vertrees, I request Peter Vertrees to pay what few debts I may owe at my death, in testimony of which I affix my signature, day and date above mentioned.

A paper writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Reuben Carr Col. decd. was this day produced in open Court [pg 137] for probate, when the same was duly proven by the oaths of A. J. Swaney one of the subscribing witnesses thereto, when the same was ordered recorded as said last will and testament of said Reuben Carr Col. dec'd.
