In the name of God Amen: I John Brigance of Sumner County of the State of Tennessee ___, being infirm in body but in perfect mind and memory do make and order this my last will and Testament in ___ following that is to day, I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of Almighty God, that gave it and my body. I recommend to the earth to be directly ___ at the discretion of my Executor and ___ such worldly estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with I will and ____ in the following manner and form.

I bequeath to Katherine Brigance my ___ and ___ all my movable property such as Horses and cows, ___ and all household furniture and . . . (last part unreadable on my copy) son Charles Brigance all and singular my lands keeping and ____ by him freely to be ____ and enjoyed. And I likewise constitute and appoint my dearly beloved and trusty son Jams Brigance to be my lawful executor to make and all ___ good ___ to Law where my heirs some of age ___ I do hereby ___ disallow, revoke, ___ all and every other former Testament and wills by me in any way before named willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th day of May one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight.
