In the name of God amen: I JAMES CLENDENING being in perfect health of body and sound in mind and memory thank God for the same and calling to mind, the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, I do make and ordain this my last will and testament; that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul to Almighty God who g_ and I recommend my body to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my children and friends and as touching such worldly estate as it has pleased God to help me with in this life I give and devise and dispose of in the following form and manner.

First I give and bequeath to my three well beloved sons Anthony, Thomas & James (note: name might be Jessie) one third part more of my land than I give to my daughters. I desire my executors to have my land valued with the improvements equable to situation and divided between my sons and my well beloved daughters, Rachel, Patsey, Eliza and Sally so that an equal dividend may be made amongst my children of my land equable apprasial in fact except one third more to my sons than my daughters (part blacked out)

and to be equally divided amongst my children. I give and bequeath to my sons Anthony and Thomas one horse creature of their own choosing out of my stock of horses more than to any of the rest of my children. This out of my stock of horses creatures to be valued and to be equally divided between my sons and daughters. My stock of cattle to be equally divided amongst my children and if my executors thinks fit to sell a part of them. My stock of hogs for the consumption of the family if they live together. My iron tools of every discription to be valued and each child to have a share in them. My household furniture of every discription to be valued and to be equally divided between my sons and daughters, the younger children to have schooling equal to the other ones agreeable to their _ schooling and providing books paper all to be paid out of the moneys include one from _ persons, as will be found amongst my papers in notes or otherwise. The int to be equally divided amongst my children. If any of my children should die before coming at age or getting married their land and other property to be equally divided between the living. I leave David Shelby and Henry Bledsoe Executors of this my last will and testament as witness my hand and seal the third of March one thousand eight hundred and eleven.
