The following record is a copy of the Union Song, which was copied from Circuit Court Execution Docket, 1849 - 1855. It is written in the back of this book, and bears the date of December 18th, 1865.

Lets sing a song before we part,
A song to cheer us at the start,

So here's goodby to all the dear
That's left of the Ottawa Volunteers,
And Away, Away, Away.

We are fighting for the Union, hurrah, hurrah,
With many a whack we'll clear the track,
And send the Rebels a howling back.

The North is starting up at last,
And men are gathering thick and fast,

For we are for the Union,
The Quaker States are pouring in New York.
