Transcribed and submitted by Linda Carpenter, Danene Vincent & Diane Payne

We as Common School Commissioners elected on the first Saturday of Inst. and duly sworn do report an say that we have faithfully taken the number of Children from six to sixteen years of age in the fifteenth District which number is one hundred & eighty seven which with the names of the parent of each we have inserted, also those persons children who we think indigent and should be exempted. We have designated three school houses but this is not sufficient to meet the convenience of all the people. This district is so cituated; the settlements are three, being on two creeks, and a ridge at the heads of the creeks & between the creeks there is a waste part where there is no person living. It is desired of the people that we should make application to the superintendent if it be practicable that means be taken to divide the present Civil District into two school Districts & this much better meet the convenience of the Citizens.-- We therefore beg your honor would do any thing within your power to relieve us of that difficulty and forward us any instruction necessary to our duty from your experience in this matter.

Subscribed to by us this 28th June 1838.
