Know all men by these presents that I Meredith Hodges being far advanced in age and knowing the certainty of death do hereby make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows to wit.
First, I will my Soul to God who gave it.
Second, I wish all my property sold including both my pieces of land on such credit or credits as my Executors may think best either at public outcry or privately as their judgement may direct.
Third, I will that the money arising from said sale be equally divided into seven equal parts and allotted as follows, To the heirs of Mary W. Redmond one seventh part, To Emily D. Spradlin one seventh part, To the heirs of Pleasant M. Hodges one seventh part, To Layton C. B. Hodges one seventh part, To the heirs of Duff G. Hodges one seventh part, To Mariah J. Durham one seventh part and to Adaline S. House one seventh part. And I hereby appoint E. M. Durham and S. F. Pond my Executors to carry out this will hereby revoking all former wills by me heretofore made satisfying and confirming this my last will and testament.

Sumner County Court December Term Dec. 2nd 1889
A paper writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of M. Hodges deceased was this day produced in open Court for probate duly proven by the oaths of E. H. C. Sarver and John Croy the subscribing witnesses thereto when the same is received and ordered filed and recorded as said last Will and Testament of M. Hodges deceased.
