Isaac Ashlock

The Reverend Isaac M. Ashlock was born on 16 Dec 1825 and died 26 Jun 1894. He is buried at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Sumner County, TN. Reverend Ashlock married first on 11 Jul 1848 to Mary P. Hunter, dau. of Lewis and Phebe Hunter and second on 16 Oct 1862 to Margaret Mahala Lee, dau. of James G. and Frances Phillips Lee.

Isaac Ashlock was a preacher, first as a Methodist and later as a Baptist. He was active in the Mt. Vernon Methodist Church for a time. Rev. Ashlock was also a cabinetmaker who made a small walnut bed for Amanda West in 1864, for which she paid $8.00. That bed is still in use. Rev. Ashlock also made the casket for James W. West in 1874. The "coffin and case" cost $15.00.
