The Reverend William Key was born October 14, 1761 in Chesterfield County, Virginia. He was married first to Elizabeth Griffin on April 2, 1789. Following the War, he resided for approx. 8 years in Warren County, North Carolina after which he and his second wife, Elizabeth (Gaines) Key settled in Sumner County, Tennessee. William died on January 18, 1934.
