1.      WILLIAM HARPER (the son of SAMUEL) was born abt 1761 in Warren Co. NC and died Feb. 1836 in Sumner Co TN. He married twice. First to PATSY YARBROUGH about 1785 in Warren County, NC. PATSY (the daughter of WILLIAM YARBROUGH) was born October 06, 1768 in Warren County, NC, and died November 1792 in Warren County, NC. He married second to REBECCA BULL on December 26, 1793 in Warren County, NC. She died after 1860 in Robertson County, TN.

Children of William Harper and Patsy Yarbrough are:
i. EDMOND HARPER b. Feb 10, 1787, Warren Co. NC. Died July 25, 1844 Sumner Co TN.
ii. JOHN HARPER, died 1794, Warren Co. NC.

2.1       EDMOND2 HARPER (WILLIAM1) was born February 10, 1787 in Warren County, NC, and died July 25, 1844 in Sumner County, TN. He married ELIZABETH S. MARTIN, daughter of JOHN MARTIN, on September 29, 1813 in Bowling Green, Warren County, KY. She was born August 11, 1793 in VA, and died March 18, 1863 in Sumner County, TN. Both Edmond and Elizabeth were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church and were buried in the Old Harper Cemetery in Trousdale County, TN.

The children of Edmond Harper and Elizabeth Martin are:
i. MARTHA HARPER.

2.2       BENJAMIN SEAWELL2 HARPER (WILLIAM1) was born March 12, 1801 in TN and died February 01, 1888 in Sumner County, TN. He is buried in the Old Harper Cemetery in Trousdale County, TN. He married three times:
(1) NANCY TINSLEY on November 30, 1825 in Sumner County, TN. She was born about 1807 in TN; died November 03, 1839 in Sumner County; and is buried in the Old Harper Cemetery in Trousdale County, TN.
(2) JANE M. BELL on November 09, 1841 in Sumner County. She was born July 04, 1811 in TN; died March 07, 1863 in Sumner County; and is buried in the Old Harper Cemetery in Trousdale County, TN.
(3) MARY B. PYLE in 1866 in Sumner County. She was born March 22, 1811 in Sumner County; died October 11, 1875 in Sumner County; and is buried in the Gallatin Cemetery.

The children of Benjamin S. Harper, Sr. and Nancy Jane Tinsley are:
i. THOMAS J. HARPER, born September 26, 1826 and died July 6, 1847 in Sumner County, TN; buried in the Old Harper Cemetery in Trousdale County, TN.

2.3      MARY HARPER (WILLIAM1) was born March 15, 1796 and died March 10, 1866 in Sumner County, TN. Polly, as she was called, married JOHN PARKER in Sumner County on February 21, 1815. Rev. John Parker and Polly were members of the Bethpage Methodist Church and are buried in the old Bethpage Cemetery.

The children of Mary Harper and Rev. John Parker are:
i. EVELINE. H. PARKER, died before 1866; married JOHN S. SANFORD October 28, 1840 in Sumner County.
ii. E. C. PARKER, died before 1866; married WILLIAM STUART July 13, 1836 in Sumner County.
iii. NANCY R. PARKER, died before 1866; married JOHN B. HILL on October 27, 1831 in Sumner County.
iv. ELVINA S. PARKER, died before 1866; married JAMES B. VANCE (born April 16, 1820, TN; died January 11, 1897) on July 30, 1841 in Sumner County.
v. JOHN M. PARKER, died December 27, 1864 in battle at Franklin, TN; married Elizabeth (Lizzy).
vi. RICHARD C. PARKER, born June 19, 1819 in Sumner County, TN; died January 31, 1885 in Sumner County, TN.
vii. MARY J. PARKER, married ABNER L. HANNA November 06, 1837 in Sumner County.

2.4       HIGDEN HARPER (WILLIAM1) married VERDELA TURNER on July 17, 1821 in Sumner County. Both died before 1836.

The child of HIGDEN HARPER and Verdela Turner is:
i. GENERAL SUMPTER HARPER, born 1828, Sumner County, TN; died August 08, 1849.

3.1       DANIEL J.3 HARPER (BENJAMIN S.2, WILLIAM1) was born 1832 in TN and died in 1885. Doc, as he was called, married twice: (1) on June 07, 1854 to PRISCILLA A. HALE, born about 1835 in TN, the daughter of CYRUS HALE and ELIZA P. TAYLOR; and (2) on November 13, 1872 to ORIANNA G. CRENSHAW, daughter of JOHN CRENSHAW and ELIZA ANN CRENSHAW of Sumner County. Oria, as she was called, was born May 28, 1848 in Sumner County, TN. She became a schoolteacher and was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Gallatin. Oria died on January 09, 1933 at the home of her daughter -- ADA (Mrs. W. G.) CREWS -- in Gallatin, and was buried in the Gallatin Cemetery. Both Daniel and Priscilla are buried in the Hale Harper Cemetery in Trousdale County, TN.

The children of Daniel J. Harper and Priscilla A. Hale are:
i. BENETTA HARPER, born about 1858 in Sumner County, TN.
ii. DANIEL CYRUS HARPER, born in 1865 in Sumner County, TN.

The children of Daniel J. Harper and Orianna G. Crenshaw are:
i. EUGENE ST. CLARE HARPER, born December 27, 1874 in Sumner County; died August 31, 1913 in Nashville, TN.
ii. ADA L. HARPER, born in 1878 in Sumner County, TN; married W. G. CREWS of Gallatin.
iii. MARGARET HARPER (called Maggie), born in August of 1882 in TN.

3.2       ARMINTA HARPER, born about 1837; married COLBY B. QUISENBERRY CHENAULT on May 11, 1854. Colby was born May 19, 1831 in Madison County, KY and died April 04, 1918 in Sumner County, TN. Arminta and Colby had nine children.

Generation Number 4

4.1       DANIEL CYRUS4 HARPER (DANIEL J.3, BENJAMIN S.2, WILLIAM1) was born in 1865 in Sumner County, TN, and died May 04, 1947 at his home on North Water St. in Gallatin, TN. At age 14, he went to Louisville, KY, and then to Chicago, IL, where he was a salesman in the men's department of Marshall Fields department store for 34 years. After retiring from Marshall Fields, he returned to Gallatin and married SARAH (SALLY) CHENAULT on June 23, 1926 in Gallatin, TN. He was a member of the Lutheran church and of the King Solomon Masonic Lodge. At the time of his death, he was survived by one son, and two married daughters -- all of whom lived in IL. Both Daniel and Sally are buried in Gallatin Cemetery.

4.2      EUGENE ST. CLARE4 HARPER (DANIEL J.3, BENJAMIN S.2, WILLIAM1) was born December 27, 1874 in Sumner County, TN, and died on August 31, 1913 in Nashville, TN from injuries resulting from an accident. He married MINNIE MARGARET DICKENSON (daughter of EPHRAIM PERSLEY DICKENSON and BLANCHE MALINDA WHITESIDE, both of Sumner County) on September 22, 1901. Minnie was born March 13, 1874 in Sumner County, TN, and died June 26, 1968 in Portsmouth, VA. Eugene was a carpenter before marrying, and was a collection agent for a Nashville furniture store when he died. Both Eugene and Minnie were buried in Gallatin Cemetery. Buried with them are their daughter (Mildred Harper) and a baby granddaughter (Eugenia Lyons). Gene, as he was called, and Minnie had five children.
