Stout/Kelly Families

James Thomas Stout, my grandfather, lived in Sumner County, TN (Hollis Chapel). My mother told me Pa was once a magistrate. I know he performed a marriage for my sister in law's marriage on his front porch. There was many people visiting him for advice when I was small.

Bertha Stout was his sister in law. She married John Stout. They lived about 3/4 mi. from us. She had a daughter Emma Franklin and a son who died in Gallatin last year.

The following is a record mentioning a number of the Stout family members:

March the 30th 1907

We J. T. Stout Babe Kelly and Dock Wallace do agree for the said Neily Kelly wife of J. F. Kelly is to have a childs part of said Kellys land and the two horse wagon and team of mules and all of the farming tools and also the Buggy and the cow and one saw and Pigs and the chickens and all such fowls and said Neily Kelly Kelly (sic) has thirty $30.00 Dollars in the said J. F. Kelly store and she can draw some out any time and J. T. Stout Babe Kelly and Dock Wallace agree that Bertha Stout shall have the house where she now lives and 3 acres of land around the house. We also agree that the heirs of J. F. Kelly are to share equally in the old engines and gris mill that is down on the Branch by Bud Links except J. W. Kelly already owns one half interest in the Huber engine and 1/3 interest in the gris mill and the Portable engine and the said J. W. Kellyis to have a equal share with the Rest over that and the said Jack McCloud has 1/3 interest in the gris mill and the Portable engine and he is to share equal above that and we further agree that J. W. Kelly is to have the John Scott engine and thrasher and the new saw rig and also the log wagon and that Willie Kelly has bought and Paid for these things and we also agree to give the Jac(?) to Willie Kelly and we also agree that Willie Kelly is to have the Henry Honeycutt team off mules when he Redeems them By Paying Babe Kelly $50.00 fifty dollars for Bowrowed money. J. F. Kelly there is $340.00 of the J. F. Kelly estate amt. (?) of the store. We also to agree that in Dividing the land that the said Neily Kelly is to have the house where she lives and 3 three acres of land aroung the house and it is further agreed that we give the said Neily Kelly one of the said J. F. Kellys feather beds and the Remainder of the feather Beds is to be Divided equaly among the children and Neily is to have every thing else in the house.
