Andrew J. (believed to be Jackson) Lovell, son of Colson Lovell (see Lovell Family) and wife unknown, was born 24 August 1800 in North Carolina. Colson and other family members' settled in Sumner and Davidson Counties around 1805-1810 where they lived through 1830. A few of the families then left for Kentucky and Illinois. Andrew and Colson arriving in Marion Co., Missouri sometime in early 1830, and by 1839, Scotland County, MO. Information from Tennessee and Kentucky census. Two publications; "Community at Large, Scotland Co., MO; Davison, Ellen K, 1993 and "With Porter in North Missouri"; Mudd, Joseph A. bring some members into Missouri.

By 1820, Andrew married Rachel Jepson, b. 7 November 1800, North Carolina. Andrew probably died 1860-70 as he is not located on these census records. Rachel Jepson Lovell made will 19 July 1874, Filed 6 August 1874 Will Abstracts; Scotland Co., Missouri 1842 - 1975, Book B&C P. 112. G. dau. Mollie Cox. Ch. Martha Cox, Lucinda Clemons, L.M. and F. M. Lovell. Made 19 July 1874, Filed 6 August 1874. Heir: Colson D (?) and Alfred M. Lovell.

Elizabeth Lovell, surviving wife of David Lovell died at the home of her son Jammison Ozbun /Osborne? in Kane on 23 September 1880. Age 81y 2m 10d.

From Scotland County Missouri in Retrospect, 1976. Page 72: Andrew Lovell listed as proprietor of hotel in Memphis soon after it became county seat in 1843.

From A Town Called Memphis Page 78: Second hotel in Memphis was put up and kept by Andrew Lovell. "It was an old frame building which stood on the corner west of the Townsend wagon factors (corner of Monroe and Clay streets)..it was used for a hotel for many years."
