Murder of a Justice of the Peace in Sumner County, Tenn. – John M. SMART, Esq., was killed on the 12th inst., while at work. He was a justice of the peace for the sixteentch civil district, Sumner county, Tennessee. Esquire SMART was elected in March, 1864, under the prcolomation of Governor, now President Johnson. He had no private enemies, was a good man, a good citizen and a good officer. He was seventy-one years of age when killed, dying from a shot through the brain and lungs. – Louisville Democrat.
