Elizabeth Mosley Sanderson

Bill SandersonThe parents of Elizabeth were English, having moved from England to Virginia before their marriage in about 1800. They were Plantation owners and slave holders. Their sons were educated in England according to the custom of the wealthy planters. There were several children, whose names are not known. The family moved to Gallatin, TN, Elizabeth's birth place. Here she met, and at fifteen, married the young soldier, William Richmond Wright.
William Richmond Wright fought under General Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans. He was born Jan. 6, 1776 (probably in Sumner County).
The couple moved from Tennessee to St. Louis, MO in March, 1829 and then to Upper Alton, IL in August of the same year. They had seven children. Their son, Jesse , married Mossey Alma Quick Nov. 9, 1843. They had eight children, one of which was John W. Wright b. 8 Sept 1856, d. 29 Aug 1942 in Alton, IL. The photo of John W. Wright and Ellen T. Miller was taken by the Alton Evening Telegraph for an article about John's 84th Birthday.
William R. Wright died March 22, 1834 and Elizabeth then married a man named David Miller. They had six children, including a daughter, Ellen T. Miller b. 5 Oct 1845 d. 23 Jan 1941.
