Rebecca, daughter of John and Elizabeth Payne was born 7 Feb 1800 in Botetourt/Bedford County Virginia and she died between 1860-1871 in Sumner County Tennessee. She married about 1820 to Samuel Hamilton Bailey he was born in Warsaw, Richmond County Virginia and he died after 1881 near Mulloys in Sumner County. Most of what is known about this couple is about the husband, he served in the War of 1812 from Richmond County Virginia from April 1813 to April 1825 with two enlistments the first of which he received his discharge in Norfolk Virginia and the second was in the Cavalry in which he received a wound to the right thigh. Apparently Samuel suffered some property loss during the Civil War as on 18 Jul 1871 Robert F Payne and Daniel Corkran testified in court that Samuel H Bailey remained loyal to the government of the U. S. and on 12 Jul 1881 at Mulloys he applied for an invalid pension for service during war of 1812. It is believed he and Rebecca are buried on the old S. H. Bailey home place near Mulloys in cemetery which was destroyed around 1965-70. Much of the following is from the family Bible in possession of James Bailey of White Bluff Tennessee.
