In the name of god Amen: I William EDWARDS of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee being of sound mind and memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament, in name and form following I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Maria EDWARDS the following slaves, Sophia and Bridges, for and during the term of her natural life, and after the death of my said wife my will and desire is that the same Negroes Sophia and Bridges shall be _ _ _ and desire is that my beloved wife shall have our feather bed and furniture, one black mare two ewes, one cow and calf, two sows and pigs and a sufficiency of corn and pork for her support one year. I also give and bequeath to my son James EDWARDS two hundred and fifty acres of land conveyed to me by William W. WATERS lying in the Territory of Missouri, Upper Louisiana, District of Cape Gerardeau. I further give to my son James one negro fellow, Razor. When he shall arrive to the age of twenty one years or marry I also give and bequeath to my son James one negro woman Aggy with all her future increase. I also give and bequeath to my daughter May CRENSHAW, one negro woman Clair and child Isaac with all their future increase. I further will and bequeath to my two sons John EDWARD and David EDWARD, and my son-in-law William OWENS one tract of land lying and being in upper Louisiana adjoining the before named tract containing three hundred acres be equally divided among my two sons and son-in-law before named John EDWARDS, David EDWARDS, and William OWEN. I also desire that all my just debts shall be paid, with the money arising from the debts due me, or from the sale of any part of my property hereinafter mentioned I desire that my Executor and Executrix hereinafter mentioned, shall sell one sorrel filly, my saddle horse and wagon, one whip saw and cropcut saw and surplus of tools, my further desire is if after the payment of all my just debts, there remain any surplus of money from the sales, or otherwise that my beloved wife shall have the said surplus to apply to her own use as she may think proper. I further give to my son James EDWARDS one black mare called Caroline, also my feather bed & furniture. I constitute and _ my wife Maria EDWARDSs Executrix and William EDWARDS Executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all wills heretofore by me made. My will and desire is that my Executor and Executrix herein named shall not be compelled to give security for the performance of their duties. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, affixed this 18th day of October in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fourteen.

Sumner county Court November Term 1814. This last will and Testament of William EDWARDS dec'd was exhibited in court and duly proved by the oaths of William HUNLY, Willie BOHANNON and Andrew GRAHAM, subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded at the same time Maria EDWARDS and William EDWARDS Executrix and Executor named in said will and Testament appeared in court and qualified as such by taking the oath of Executor prescribed by law.
