John Mitchell, Adm for Pleasant Mitchell (decd), and Henry Jones, 1840

I have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to John Mitchel, Administrator of Pleasant Mitchell decd, for the consideration of five dollars to me in hand paid and the other considerations herein after mentioned my tract of land in Sumner County, Tennessee bounded as follows to wit Begining on a beach standing in the South boundry line of Robert Hawkins Old Tract running East 73 poles to a beach thence North 43 poles to a stake Thence West 73 poles to a stake thence 43 poles to the beginning containing 19 acres 3 rods 15 poles. Be the same more or less. Also another tract of School land lying on the South boundry of the above named tract of land containing 25 1/4 Acres all In Sumner County Tennessee on the ______ between Bledsoes Creek and Trammel Creek also one Sorrel Mare and colt to have and to hold to said John Mitchell Administrator of Pleasant Mitchell and his heirs and assignes forever I warrant the ____ and agree to defend it against persons _____. But this conveyance is made upon the express condition that if I or my Representatives do pay to the said John Mitchell Adm of Plesant Mitchell decd or his representatives the sum of fifty dollars with the interest there on on the 7th day of December 1840 according to a Note under seal 20th day of March 1839 Executed by me to the said John Mitchell administrator of Plesant Mitchell decd then the deed shall be void but not otherwise. This April 7th day of April 1840

Andrew McGlothlin clerk of the County Court for the said Sumner, Taylor G. Gilliam and William Phillips Subscribing Witnesses to the within deed to John Mitchell who being first Sworn depose and say that they are acquainted with Henry Jones the bargainer and that he acknowledged the same in their prersence to be his act and deed upon the day it bears date witness my hand at office this 3rd day of June 1840
