This Indenture made this 3rd day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and sixteen between Allen Purvis of the One part of the State of Tennessee and County of Sumner and John McCann of the Other part of the same State and County. Witnesseth that he the said Allen Purvis for and in consideration of the sum of thirty eight Dollars to him in hand paid by the sd John McCann at and before the Sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt of which payment is hereby acknowledged and he the said John McCann his heirs &c are Exonerated and by these presents forever discharged he the said Allen Purvis doth hereby bargain, sell, alieu, convey and confirm unto him the said John McCann his heirs or assigns three acres, three roods and twelve poles being a small piece of land sold by the late Nicholas Boyce to the sd. Allen Purvis from the South West corner of sd. Boyce's tract; Beginning at the South East corner of James Leith's Tract which he purchased of M. Hafford. Running East Sixty two poles to an ironwood and Hickory. Thence North ten poles to a dogwood. Thence West sixty two poles to James Leith's line. Thence South ten poles to the Beginning. Containing as above three acres, three roods and twelve poles be the same more or less. Together with all woods, water, profits, herditaments and appurtenances to the said land belonging or appertaining and appurtenances to the sd John McCann his heirs or assigns forever and he the said Allen Purvis for himself his heirs Executors, Administrators or assigns doth hereby convant, promise and agree to and with the sd. John McCann his heirs Executors Administrators or assigns that unto him, them or they the said above specified - with all and every of its members free from all lawful claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever will and shall warrant and by these presents forever defend.

In witness whereof he the said Allen Purvis hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written

State of Tennessee - Sumner County Court - February Term 1816 -
The within deed of bargain and sale between Allen Purvis of the one part and John McCann of the other part for three acres of land was duly acknowledged in open Court by the said Allen Purvis, the bargainer and ordered to be registered.
