Mathew ARMSTRONG was born in North Carolina about 1776. In the 1830 Sumner Co. TN Census he was listed with his wife, three sons and one daughter. In the 1850 Sumner Co. TN Census he is listed as 74 years of age with his wife Sarah, 68 and son Joseph, 30. From census reports and Mathew' Armstong's will it can be determined that he and Sarah had the following children (not in order):

1. Elizabeth ARMSTRONG, born 1803, married Joseph H. WISE 23 Mar. 1819, Sumner Co. Tn.

2. Charlotte ARMSTRONG, born 1808, married William Kidd MARQUESS. (my g-g-grandparents)

3. Susan ARMSTRONG, born 1813, married Thompson BALDRIDGE.

4. Robert ARMSTRONG, born 1815, married Malinda STROTHER 1 Feb. 1837, Sumner Co. Tn.

5. Elizabeth ARMSTRONG, born 1810/15, married Joseph H. WISE 23 Mar. 1819, Sumner Co. Tn.

6. Joseph ARMSTRONG, born 1820.

7. Mathew ARMSTRONG, Jr. born 1820/25, married Nancy MARQUESS in Sumner Co. Tn. 2 Nov 1837. He died before 23 June 1851 (date of Mathew Sr.'s will)

8. Sarah ARMSTRONG, born 1827

9. Polly Ann ARMSTRONG married John LEDDY 26 Oct. 1826, Sumner Co. Tn.

10. Soundity (?) Armstrong

Note: There are no death dates for Mathew or Sarah. My g-g-grandparents (Charlotte Armstrong MARQUESS (aka Lottie Marquess) and her husband William Kidd MARQUESS) later moved to the central Missouri area, where there are now many descendants in the Morgan and Pettis County areas.
