Cherry Mound Lodge no 227 F & A M on the 22 day of July 1892 death visited our Mestic circle and suddenly snatched from among us our worthy and esteemed Brother Joel F Appling who was initiated as an E. A. in this lodge on the 22nd day of January 1859. Passed to the degree of F C on the 26th day of May 1859.
Brother Appling was a true man and mason poessesing those qualities in eminent degree that is necessary to combine to make up a useful and respected citizen and especaly that shining altribute without which there can be no true Mason (To Wit) Charity.
He was open, generous and charitable to a falt and while it is hard for us to give him up we know that the ways of providence are in scrutable and we submit ourselves with neverence to the decree of him who death all things well.
Therefor Resolved by Cherry Mound Lodge No 227 F & A M that in the death of Brother Appling this lodge has lost one of its truest and best members this community a useful citizen and his wife and childen and affectionatd and indulgent Husband and Father. Resolved further that the members of this lodge extend their heartfelt sympthy to the Widow and children in this their sad bereavement and while we mourn in common with them in this inseparable loss, we are somewhat comfosted with the thought that our loss may be his eternal gain, that his mortality has put on emmortality and his spirit has been transformed from this tersestrial lodge below to that celestial lodge obove over which the Grand Master of the universe presides.
Resolved further that the members of this lodge near the usual lodge of mourning for thirty days and that these resolutions be spread upone the minutes of this Lodge and a copy there of presented to the Widow of our deceased brother.
