ALMAROAD, AULDEN "BUD" BLOUNTVILLE -- Aulden "Bud" Almaroad, 80, of 237 Almaroad Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Blountville and a son of the late Floyd and Betty Almaroad. He retired from Paul Baker Chevrolet and was a member of Feather's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Ellen Almaroad; a son, Howard Almaroad of Blountville; a daughter, Margaret Witt of Bluff City; six grandchildren, Tim Cross, Aaron Witt, Anna Witt, Angie Federow, Kim Moody and Leslie Almaroad; and three great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Cross, Will Federow and Summer Stanley. ANDERS, CHARLES WILLARD Charles Willard Anders, 81, of Bristol TN died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center. He was born in Washington County, Va. He was a member of Community Baptist Church and a retired farmer. Surviving are his wife, Viola "Nell" Anders; a stepdaughter, Grace Musick of Bristol VA; a granddaughter, Monica Marshall of Blountville; a grandson, Michael Mosberg II of Bristol TN; five great-grandchildren, Mickey Mosberg, Morris Mosberg III, Jennifer Ewart, Chadd Smith and Michelle Whitaker; a great-great-grandson, Chase Ewart; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Campbell Funeral Home Chapel in Abingdon. Pastor Mike Carmody will officiate. Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Knollkreg Memorial Park. Among survivors are a grandson-in-law, Bobby Marshall of Blountville; a granddaughter-in-law, Brenda Mosberg of Bristol TN; and many dear friends. He was born in Mountain City, TN, lived most of his life in the Bristol area and was a retired heavy equipment mechanic. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are a daughter, Shelia Blankenbeckler of Bristol TN; a son, Ronald Arnold of Bristol TN; two sisters, Mary Widner of Bristol TN and Edith Calhoun of Delaware; a brother, Elmer Arnold of Bristol T; and two granddaughters. She was a lifelong resident of the Blountville area and attended Charity Baptist Church. She was the widow of Clarence Berkley. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Herman (Erma) Handy and Nancy B. Depew, both of Blountville, Mrs. Luther (Betty) Dotson of Winchester, Tenn., Mrs. Johnny (Blanche) Moss of High Point, NC, and Mrs. Gene (Mary) Gaddis of Chattanooga, Tenn.; four sons, Charles "Bud" Berkley and Billy Berkley, both of Bristol Tennessee, Walter Berkley of Kingsport and Donald Berkley of High Point, NC; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was born in the Cross community of Sullivan County, a daughter of the late William "Bill" and Molly Tallman. She lived in the Kingsport area most of her life, moved to Sarasota, FL., from 1963-73 and returned to Kingsport to live with a daughter and son-in-law. She became a resident of Greystone Health Care Center in 1997 and moved to Wexford House Health Care Center in 1998. She was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church and of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was the widow of Charles Henry Coffey. Surviving are two daughters, Ida Mae Elam and Elizabeth Fields, both of Kingsport; two sons, Donald Ray Coffey of Charlotte, NC, and John W. She was born in Appalachia, VA, a daughter of the late Noah and Lisa Fuller. She moved to Bristol in 1947. After being employed with the Kingsport Press, King Printing Co. and Bristol Herald Courier, she received her bachelor's degree and master's degree in English from East Tennessee State University with post-graduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was an assistant professor of English at East Tennessee Sate University from 1965-84. She was a past president of the Bristol Chapter of Business and Professional Women's Organization, a member of the American Association of University Women and the national Council of Teachers of English. She was a member of State Street United Methodist Church and the widow of Hugh Walter David. Surviving are two sons, Charles Dishner of Fort Smith and Ernest K. Dishner of Hummelstown, PA; three sisters, Betty Moore, Sue Fuller and Pauline Scraper, all of Kingsport, TN; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. LOWE, HAVEN CLIFFORD JOHNSON CITY -- The Rev. Haven Clifford Lowe, 83, of 403 Twin Oaks Drive, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, in Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Bristol Tennessee, a son of the late Clifford Henry and Katie Blackwell Lowe. He returned to Johnson City in 1980. He was a graduate of Tennessee High School in Bristol, received his bachelor of arts degree from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN, and his master of divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He studied at East Tennessee State University, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., and Western Carolina University Extension Center in Cherokee, NC. He became an ordained Southern Baptist minister in 1937 and pastored 15 churches in Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia before retiring in 1983. He served as interim pastor of 12 churches after retirement. He spent five years ministering with the Cherokee Indians in Cherokee. He was a two-term moderator of the Holston Baptist Association and a board member of the Baptist State Convention in North Carolina. He was trustee of the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home Inc. and served in many capacities with the Tennessee Baptist Convention. He was the widower of Etta June Hodge Lowe and a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church in Johnson City. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. McCLELLAN, ROBERT E. Dr. Dr. Robert E. McClellan, 75, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in Nashville. He was a son of the late Robert Emmett and Audria Gray McClellan of Bristol. He was a diplomat of the American Board of Urology and a member of the American College of Surgeons. He also held membership in the American Medical Association, Tennessee Medical Association, Nashville Academy of Medicine, American and Southeastern Urological associations, Southern Medical Association, Middle Tennessee Urological Association and Nashville Surgical Society. Dr. McClellan was a staff member of Centennial, Baptist, Vanderbilt and Saint Thomas hospitals. He served as a member of the Medical Advisory Board and chief of urology at Baptist and Saint Thomas hospitals. He was an associate clinical professor of surgery at Vanderbilt University. She was born in Flintville, TN, a daughter of the late Andrew Edward Counts and Ella Shepard Counts. She was the widow of James L. McCord Sr and a long-time member of State Street Methodist Church, where she taught children and adult Sunday school classes for more than 50 years. She was a member and past president of the United Methodist Women and served on various committees of the church. She was a former president of the PTA and served on the Bristol Tennessee School Board for two terms during the 1940s including one term as chairman. She was past president of Bristol Music Club and the YWCA. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, American Red Cross, League of Women Voters, Women's History Club, New Era Study Club and a participant for many years at the YMCA. He was a truck driver and retired to Bristol in 1990. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, past post chaplain, senior vice-commander, service officer and membership chairman. He spent five years in the Honor Guard of VFW Post 6975. He was a past service officer and past commander of Chapter 114 Disabled American Veterans. He was an organizer commander and adjutant of Chapter 623 Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was adjutant and junior vice commander of the 12th District of the VFW and was president of the Fraternal Veterans Council. Surviving are his wife, Shirley S. Mohl; two sons, Leonard M. Mohl Jr. of Lancaster, Ohio, and Robert L. Mohl of Knoxville; two daughters, Anna H. Jones of Bristol Tennessee and Katrina Fisher of Lowmansville, Ky.; three grandsons; five granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Mohl was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph D. Skaggs Jr.; a sister, Louise Jones; and a brother, Lewis J. Mohl VI. Honorary pallbearers will be members of all military organizations. He was a certified plant engineer and a life member of the Jamestown Society and First Families of Tennessee. He was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps stationed in England with the 8th Air Force. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of the VFW Charles DeWitt Byrd Post 3382 of Kingsport. He was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Lillian L. Montgomery; a son, Jim Montgomery of Knoxville; a sister, Margaret Kelly of Williamsburg, Va.; a granddaughter, Jenny Montgomery; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Irvin Montgomery. His hobbies were photography and genealogy. He was loving and devoted to his wife, family and friends.
