Looking for info on Pitzer Benjamin Bradley, born around 1868, married Lucetta Cloud

Searching A.J.SMITH, who wed MARY BLANKENSHIPin Blount Co. Tn. in 1858. They are
believed to have moved on to Kingsport, Tn and Kentucky. At the time of this marriage,
A.J. is 42 and Mary is 24 indicating that the children listed on 1860 census must be by
another mother. Children are LAFFAYET, JAMES, NANCY ANN, JOHN and WILLIAM HENRY . My great
grandfather is William Henry SMith and whether this is Wm Henry and family are right
family or not I cannot nail down yet. William Henry died late(presumed to have died

Three K I N G brothers married three M O R R E L L sisters. Their children were double
first cousins. They were the three sons (Thomas, John, Samuel) of HARVEY KING and the

After burning a Yankee ship at Vicksburg, Benjamin Williams (B.W.) ELLISON was granted
a 30 day furlough and went to Sullivan County, Tennessee. He was raised in Bradley County,

NICKELL to Samantha Q. RHOTON. Per Joseph's Civil War Pension file, this couple was
married 19 Dec 1844 Sullivan Co TN by Wm Newlin a Minister. I know nothing about Sullivan
Co. Can anybody tell my why a man from Johnson Co KY would marry a woman from Scott Co VA
in Sullivan Co TN? (as I understand it the best land route would have been through Pound
Gap) Or can anyone verify that William Newlin was actually a minister in Sullivan Co, what

name was Permelia Anne. Known children: Susannah, Nancy, Pleasant Smith and (probably)
Thomas. Moved to S. C. after the R. War. He relocated to Sullivan County, TN living there
for six years, about 1792-1798. Relocated to Wayne Co., KY. about 1899. Nothing is known
about his stay in TN. He may have left family there. Thomas may have married there. Any
information on the family line would be greatly appreciated.

Garrett D. BAILEY married Melinda Masters and settled in Washington County in mid
1800's. Both the BAILEY and the MASTERS family's were from Yancey County, North Carolina.
Garrett D. and Melinda settled on the banks of the Nolichuckey near the home of Jacob
Brown and Bird Brown. Many of their descendants settled in the Mayberry, New Victory and
Mount Wesley Communites of Washington County, Tennessee.

Col. Henry Clark. Was sheriff of Sullivan Co, Tn from 1780-1787, involved in state of
Franklin conflict along with Col. Henry CLARK and Col. John SEVIER. Believe he fled Tn in
1787 after warrant for arrest was issued during state of Franklin conflict and poss went
to Shepherdsville area of Ky. Believe his wife was Sarah FEATHERSTON (b ~ 1779 Va, d ~ bet

My ancestor Jacob WORK and brother/?/father Robert WORK were in Sullivan County as
early as 1794. Robert died about 1804 and his heirs, Jacob (by then in Roane Co.) and
Joseph acquired land in Sullivan. Jacob is thought to have married a "Miss"
Crockett, thought to be daughter of Andrew Crockett, a Justice of the Peace in Sullivan in
1798-1817. Andrew CROCKETT officiated the marriage Jacob's son Flemming WORK (Andrew's
grandson?) in Sullivan about 1817. Joseph's oldest son William WORK was in Sullivan as
late as 1850 with a wife and son and two daughters. I know nothing about Miss Crockett or
her ?father Andrew, nor do I know what ever happened to William and his wife after 1850.
Any information on CROCKETT and WORK's in Sullivan? Any information you can provide is

I have a very old picture, that was given to me by my grandfather William Marse

Solomon Cole, born in approximately 1875 in TN, lived most of hislife in Sullivan
County, married Edna Harr. He is my greatgrandfather. He registered as White on 1920
Census, but claimed tobe nearly full-blooded Cherokee. He is not on the Miller Roll.
Perhaps if I find his parents, I might could trace my Cherokee ancestry.

Trying to find more about John Grubb, b. 1765 in Rockingham Co. VA. who moved to
Sullivan County @ 1770 or so. John had several children; one was Phillip b. 1782 in TN who
moved to KY and married there in 1807. I am trying to track down any other children of

BRIGHAM - Am trying to confirm that my gggg-gf Thomas BRIGHAM (b.1774, Blountville,
Sullivan Co. TN), the son of James BRIGHAM and Louisa LOONEY BRIGHAM, married an Native
American woman (Cherokee orShawno/Shawnee?) by the name of "Stake' Si Nes' Skim"
aka "Mary" in/near Sullivan Co. TN ~ 1794 or so. Am trying to determine which

Frances U. Loyd, also b. abt. 1825 Sullivan County TN. In 1850, they were in Tishomingo
County MS. They traveled with the Lemuel L. CHRISTIAN family and in 1850 they were in

Seeking researchers with information on Richard KITE bc. 1740-50? d. aft. 1810 Carter
Co. TN, his wife Eleanor ____?, and son IsaacKITE Sr. bc. 1761-70 who md. Ruth FLANARY.
Richard KITE's familywas settled in Washington District, NC ( now Carter Co. TN ) by
1783and subsequently obtained a land grant from NC in the amount of 150acres on Gap Creek.
They were members of the Sinking Creek Churchand most KITE - KYTE families now living in
the area are descendedfrom this family. Other KITE researchers believe Richard KITE
firstsettled in Sullivan Co. TN before ending up in Carter County. I havefound no evidence
of this nor have I been successful in locatingRichard KITE's family outside of TN prior to

Info on Susie J. SMITH (b.1884 in NC) dau of Daniel SMITH (b.1857 in NC) & Martha
(b.1865 in Va). Married Clayburn LUNDY (b.c1868 in NC) ABT.1902 in NC? Relocated to
Sullivan Co.,TN abt.1903. Family insists that Susie was Cherokee and possibly Clayburn was

Looking for any family researchers in the East Tennessee area researching BOOHER. I am
searching for information on James E. Booher and Juanita McDaniel(s) of East Tennessee. I
understand that James remarried someone named Aggie or Addie and had a number more

In 1862, Charles Edward HENLEY born to John HENLEY and Nan SMILEY. Nan SMILEY had many
brothers that moved to Quitman, Texas. Nan SMILEY 7/8's Cherokee, I have been unable to
track her family roots. Charles E. Henley moved to Childress, Texas, with his mother Nan

Is anyone familiar with a geographical location called "Devault's Ford." My
g-g grandfather was a private in Company K, 12th Regiment, Kentucky Cavalry Volunteers
(US), and on 30. September 1864, he was captured by the Confederates at "Duvall's (or
Devault's) Ford in Tennessee." Any information would be appreciated.

I have David Fields, Obediah Fields and John Fields with the "rank of private on a
muster roll of a company of infantry commanded by Andrew Beaty, in a Regiment of Sullivan
County Militia, Territory South of the Ohio, commanded by Gilbrath Christian, Esq., for
Sept 17, 1793, roll dated Knoxville Dec., 1793". I have nothing prior on David,
Obediah or John but all since on David. Any information on the three individuals, their

Hello, I am Dr. Richard Cantrell and I was raised in Albany, Georgia. I was born in
1954 and my father was James Howard Cantrell. He was born in March 1915 or 1916, probably
in Tennessee, his father was Marion CANTRELL. He supposedly was married to a Cherokee
Indian, last name FRYE or FRY. As both grandparents passed on prior to my birth and my
father spoke little of them except of his Indian heritage, I have little to go on. I know
that my Grandparents were married in Tennessee probably at the turn of the century give or
take ten years but I don't know the county or anything like that and I know that the
Cantrell's came to Tennessee from Georgia or South Carolina. Any help would be greatly
